Top 100 Outfielder in 2025 High School Class Flips Commitment to Vanderbilt

On Tuesday, the Vanderbilt Commodores received a late addition with a commitment from a 2025 high school player. Outfielder Collin Brightwell flipped his commitment to Vanderbilt from Oklahoma.

He announced his decision to commit to the Commodores on his X account.

Brightwell had previously committed to Oklahoma. However, he announced on his X account that he was reopening his recruitment on Oct. 4, 2024.

According to Perfect Game, Brightwell is a top-100 outfielder (ranked No. 89) in the 2025 high school class.

He is from Stone Mountain, Georgia, and played high school baseball for the North Paulding Wolfpack.

The outfield prospect is one of the best high school players in Georgia for the 2025 cycle. Perfect Game lists Brightwell as a top-10 outfielder from the state and a top-40 player overall from Georgia.

Vanderbilt’s 2025 high school recruiting class

The 2025 high school recruiting cycle is nearly complete, and Vanderbilt has the No. 4 class in the country, according to Perfect Game.

The only teams with higher-ranked 2025 high school recruiting classes are LSU, Texas and Tennessee.

Vanderbilt’s 2025 class contains 12 total recruits. Half of these recruits appear in Perfect Game’s top-100 ranking for this recruiting cycle.

Why Brightwell’s signing with the Commodores is important

It is important to note that some of the players in Vanderbilt’s high school class were selected early in the 2025 MLB Draft. This includes players such as Seth Hernandez, Sean Gamble and Slater De Brun, who all were picked in the first round this year.

However, for head coach Tim Corbin and the Vanderbilt program, that makes an addition like Brightwell much more significant. Now, the team can add high school talent that it otherwise lost.
