Top Five NCAA Teams with the Best Combined Football and Baseball Programs in 2025

 Alfred Ezman - World Baseball Network  |    Aug 25th, 2025 5:00pm EDT

In the spirit of college football returning this week, World Baseball Network will rank the top five colleges with the best combination of current football and baseball programs.

Disclaimer: These rankings evaluate the state of college football and baseball programs CURRENTLY, not all-time.

The criteria for these rankings include the results of the school’s 2024 college football season, their 2025 college baseball season, and AP Poll rankings heading into 2025.

1. LSU Tigers – The LSU Tigers claim the top spot in World Baseball Network’s rankings when it comes to having the strongest current duo of college football and baseball programs.

Head coach Jay Johnson just led LSU baseball to its second national championship in three years in 2025.

As for the Tigers’ football program, they are coming off a solid season, finishing 9-4 in 2024. They defeated the Baylor Bears in the Texas Bowl.

The preseason praise for 2025 is high for LSU in football. The current AP Poll has the Tigers ranked ninth in the country.

As the reigning college baseball national champions and a preseason top ten football team, LSU has the best combination of college baseball and college football as of right now.

2. Texas Longhorns – Texas baseball and football are on a roll. In their first baseball season in the SEC, the Longhorns won the SEC regular season title and were the number two national seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

As for football, Texas made a deep run in the 2024-25 College Football Playoff. The Longhorns made it to the semi-final round and won two playoff games against Clemson and Arizona State.

Texas also comes in as college football’s preseason number one team in the country according to the current AP Poll.

The Longhorns are a solidified national power in both college baseball and football. For the time being, it seems like that will remain relatively unchanged.

3. Clemson Tigers – Clemson has shown stability across both football and baseball as of late.

The Tigers hosted a regional for the 2025 NCAA Tournament and had 45 total wins in the season.

It is the third straight season Clemson hosted a regional and it is their highest win total in a season since 2018.

As for football, the Tigers won the ACC championship and made the College Football Playoff in 2024.

In 2025, the expectation to be elite is still lingering. The preseason AP Poll has Clemson ranked fourth in the country prior to the season starting.

Retained consistency in baseball and a title-contending football season make Clemson a highly ranked school on this list.

4. Georgia Bulldogs – When you match a rising baseball program with a powerhouse football school, you get the Georgia Bulldogs.

A 43-win regular season led to the Bulldogs hosting a regional in Athens as the number seven national seed. It was the second-straight season they have hosted a regional in the NCAA Tournament.

In football, Georgia won the SEC championship and made the College Football Playoff in 2024.

Not too far removed from back-to-back national championships, the Bulldogs are looking to win another one under head football coach Kirby Smart in 2025.

The preseason AP Poll has Georgia ranked fifth in the country.

The Bulldogs’ solid baseball season, with top-notch football this past season, makes them a must-add school to this list.

5. Tennessee Volunteers – Much like Clemson, the Tennessee Volunteers crack the list with consistency maintained in both baseball and football as of late.

The Volunteers won 46 games in 2025 and made it to a super regional for the fifth straight season. They are the only program in college baseball history to accomplish this feat.

Tennessee also found big-time success with football in 2024. The team put together a 10-win season that was highlighted by a College Football Playoff appearance.

Due to a major offseason change at quarterback, Tennessee football sank back in the preseason AP Poll for the 2025 season. They are currently ranked 24th

Nonetheless, Tennessee football and baseball have found a ton of success as of late. This warrants them a spot on this list.
