Top Five Things To Do At the Little League World Series

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Playing in the Little League World Series is an experience not many can participate in. One thing everyone can do is attend it, and if you have not yet, you should.

The old adage is that baseball is a kid’s game. Well, if that’s true, Williamsport is the mecca of baseball.

As the signs for the tournament start to pop up, the anticipation and excitement build up. You can feel the energy from five miles away. The signs for parking on both sides of the street, set up by local homeowners for a mere $10, are a clear sign of the yearly surge in tourism.

Now that we have arrived at the complex, here are the must-do activities.

5. Eat at the International Grove

One of the main attractions at the Little League facilities is the famous hill overlooking Howard J. Lamade Stadium, and right next to it is the best place for food.

The International Grove has foods representing every country participating in the World Series. With options for everyone, there is no way to be disappointed.

We recommend the stir fry; you’ll thank us later.

4. Play the games at the “Fan Zone”

This is one of the most interactive things to do at Williamsport. There are many games and competitions to win pins, competition coins, and stickers.

We tried them all, lost them all. It was a disappointing but very fun experience.

3. Slide down the hill on a cardboard box

This might be too low on the list based purely on the fact that it is one of the most iconic parts of the Little League World Series. Kids and adults alike bring cardboard to slide down the steep hill, and it lives up to the hype.

Be careful, though; it is a war zone up there. Bodies are flying left and right. Keep your head on a swivel.

2. Watch a game

The most obvious choice on this list. There really is nothing like watching live baseball; mixing that with people from all over the world makes the experience that much better.

Yesterday, during the Australia vs. Chinese Taipei game, players from Japan, Texas, and Aruba joined forces to cheer on team Australia, which was right in front of us, including chanting the Australian’s iconic cheer. It was an incredible atmosphere but seeing players from different teams making lifelong friends from other parts of the world is what makes this tournament so great.

1. Visit the Little League Museum

This was a tough choice. Watching a game from the hill, stands, and everywhere in between is tough to beat. But, the Little League Museum is a must-do at Williamsport.

As you walk through, you get a full history of Little League. Not only are there pictures all over the walls, but they also display old uniforms and videos throughout to give you the full experience.

It was tough to narrow this list down to five, as they put so much effort into making every fan feel the energy of this tournament, which is palpable as you walk into the facilities.
