This season, Leones del Escogido won the LIDOM championship, earning the right to represent the Dominican Republic in the 2025 Caribbean Series. However, they will be without a key player: Junior Caminero, who was not on the D.R. roster posted to x.
He had a great season in LIDOM and, at one point, was batting .452 and had nearly as many extra-base hits (15) as swing-and-misses (18).
Caminero went viral in the championship series against Tigres del Licey after hitting a monster go-ahead home run and celebrating for nearly a minute.

He would win MVP of the LIDOM Final Series while helping Leones del Escogido win their first championship since the 2015-16 season.
It is the team’s 17th all-time championship, as they have the third-most in the league behind Tigres del Licey (24) and Águilas Cibaeñas (22).
However, the Dominican Republic team in Mexicali will be without the star MLB prospect during their tournament run in Mexicali.
Caminero is looking to have a big-time 2025 season in Major League Baseball with the Tampa Bay Rays. Last season, he batted .248 in 165 at-bats. He also had six home runs to go along with that.
The Dominican Republic’s first game in the Carribean Series will be against Venezuela on Friday, Jan. 31. The first pitch is at 4:30 p.m. E.T.
