World Baseball Network is tracking top international and domestic prospects on 40-man rosters who stood out during the opening weekend of the 2025 Triple-A season. This spotlight includes players ranked on MLBPipeline.com and highlights early-season standouts born outside the United States.

In 2025, all Minor League Baseball games will be available to stream with a subscription on MLB.TV and the MiLB First Pitch app on all smart devices.

No. 2 – OF Roman Anthony, Triple-A Worcester (Boston Red Sox)

Boston’s top prospect started his 2025 campaign with a powerful weekend for the Worcester Red Sox. Anthony posted a slash line of .333/.600/1.333 in two games, going 2-for-6 with two home runs, four RBI, four walks, and one strikeout in 10 plate appearances.

The 20-year-old left-handed hitter from West Palm Beach, Florida, went deep twice on Sunday against the Syracuse Mets. Both home runs came off right-handed reliever Justin Hagenman and traveled over 400 feet.

Anthony was selected 79th overall in the 2022 MLB Draft out of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and signed for an over-slot bonus of $2.5 million.

In 247 minor league games across four seasons, Anthony has hit .284 with 34 homers, 145 RBI, 38 stolen bases, and an .879 OPS. He was named a Futures Game selection in 2024 and earned multiple All-Star honors from Baseball America and MiLB.com across High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A.

Worcester begins its second series of the season Tuesday night on the road against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Miami Marlins’ Triple-A affiliate, at 7:05 p.m. EDT at 121 Financial Ballpark.

No. 9 – SS Carson Williams, Triple-A Durham (Tampa Bay Rays)

Williams opened his 2025 season going 4-for-11 with three walks, a stolen base, and a .364/.500/.364 line over three games against Norfolk. The 21-year-old shortstop from San Diego also made a strong impression in big-league camp, batting .281 in 35 spring training plate appearances.

Last season with Double-A Montgomery, Williams hit .256 with 20 doubles, 69 RBI, and 33 steals in 115 games. Since being drafted by Tampa Bay in 2021, he has a career minor league average of .257 with 62 home runs and an .831 OPS in 357 games.

A decorated defender and prospect, Williams was named a Rawlings MiLB Gold Glove winner and MiLB Organization All-Star in 2022 and 2023. He also earned recognition as a Rising Star in the 2023 Arizona Fall League and was a postseason All-Star in multiple leagues.

Durham begins its first home series of 2025 against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the Houston Astros’ affiliate, on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. EDT.

No. 14 – 3B Coby Mayo, Triple-A Norfolk (Baltimore Orioles)

Mayo launched his first home run of 2025 on Sunday against Durham lefty Joe Rock, part of an 8-2 Norfolk win.

The 23-year-old third baseman from Coral Springs, Florida, went 3-for-12 with a home run, two RBI, and a .250/.308/.500 line in his opening weekend. He is ranked No. 2 in the Orioles’ system behind top catching prospect Samuel Basallo.

Mayo debuted in the majors last August and appeared in 17 games for Baltimore, hitting .098 in 46 plate appearances. Prior to his call-up, he dominated at the minor league level in 2024, posting a .293 average and .964 OPS with 25 homers and 73 RBI across 93 games between High-A Aberdeen and Triple-A Norfolk.

A fourth-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, Mayo has hit .283 with 83 home runs and a .921 OPS over five minor league seasons. He was named the Eastern League MVP in 2023 and earned Triple-A and Minor League All-Star honors from Baseball America in 2024.

Norfolk begins a three-game road series Tuesday at Charlotte against the White Sox affiliate, the Knights, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. EDT at Truist Field.
