Top Ten International Baseball Powerhouses in 2025

With baseball back in full swing around the globe, let’s take a look at ten of the powerhouses that are must-watch teams internationally. 

10. Charros De Jalisco (Mexico – LMP) – The Serie del Caribe runners-up deserve a mention as a powerhouse in 2025. The champions of the Mexican Pacific League finished the season 37-31 overall. They performed well in Mexicali with an undefeated preliminary round in the Serie del Caribe.

9. Leones del Escogido (Dominican Republic – LIDOM) – Despite the LIDOM season being over, Leones del Escogido also deserves a mention for their accomplishments in 2025. Not only did head coach Albert Pujols win the LIDOM championship, but the team also went on to win the Serie del Caribe, one of the biggest international events in baseball.

8. Brothers Baseball Club (Taiwan – CPBL) – Fresh off a championship season in 2024, the Brothers Baseball Club in the Chinese Professional Baseball League is off to a great start in 2025, sitting second in the league. They are 7-3 in their last ten games as

7. Samsung Lions (Korea – KBO) – The Samsung Lions finished as runners-up in the KBO during the 2024 season. Despite a record hovering around .500, they sit in the top half of the league in fourth place. They have the second most wins in the league with 10, only the LG Twins have more.

6. Yokohama Bay Stars (Japan – NPB) – Yokohama won the NPB a season ago and aims to bring more success in 2025. The addition of Trevor Bauer was a big one as he returned to his former Japanese team. The Bay Stars are currently fourth in a tough Central Division in the Nippon Professional Baseball League.

5. Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks (Japan – NPB) – Fukuoka won an astonishing 91 games a season ago. Despite a rocky start in 2025, the Hawks have won three of their last five games. They sit in a solid position in the Pacific Division in third place.

4. Yomiuri Giants (Japan – NPB) – The historically great Yomiuri Giants had quite the offseason. They brought in players like Raidel Martinez and Masahiro Tanaka to feature one of the best pitching staffs in the Nippon Professional Baseball League. The Giants are currently third in the Central Division.

3. Hanshin Tigers (Japan – NPB) – Consistency is the name of the game for Hanshin. They finished second in the Central Division in the Nippon Professional Baseball League a season ago. They sit in that same spot this season and have won two of their last three games.

2. Orix Buffaloes (Japan – NPB) – Orix is looking like the best team in the Nippon Professional Baseball League thus far. They have 11 wins, three losses, with one tie mixed in. The Buffaloes have also won four games in a row heading into their next matchup against the Seibu Lions.

1. LG Twins (Korea – KBO) – After a heartbreaking end to their 2024 season, the LG Twins have revenge on their mind. They are 15-3 this season with wins in four of their last five games. The SSG Landers and KT Wiz are in second and third place, respectively, in the KBO. This shows just how dominant the Twins have been.
