Top Three Moments From 2024 Little League World Series

The Little League World Series had so many memorable moments during the two weeks the tournament took place. World Baseball Network lists the top three moments of the 2024 LLWS.

#3. Antonio Guerrero and Raul Hernández pitched a no-hitter for Mexico.

On the first day of the Little League World Series, Mexico defeated Aruba 2-0 behind the arms of Antonio Guerrero and Raul Hernández. Antonio Guerrero pitched five complete innings, and Raul Hernandez closed the game. Together, these pitchers combined for a no-hitter. This was an awesome way for the Mexican team to start their tournament and reminded LLWS fans of the first time that Mexico won the tournament in 1957 when Ángel Macias threw a perfect game in the final.

#2 Venezuelan Pitcher Luis Yepez throws 80 miles per hour.

Although this might not be considered a moment because Yepez was constantly throwing 80-mile-per-hour fastballs throughout the tournament, watching this young Venezuelan kid pitch was remarkable. The distance from the mound to the plate in Williamsport is 46 feet, meaning that the 80 mph heaters Yepez was throwing took the same time from his hand to the plate as 105 mph pitch on a major league baseball field. Yepez was nearly unhittable throughout the whole tournaments and most of the runs scored against him were because his pitches were too fast for his own catcher to handle.

#1 Lake Mary, Florida, wins the LLWS on a bunt in extra innings.

Starting in the 8th inning, both teams start with a runner on second base. Chinese Taipei was unable to score in the top of the 8th, meaning all the Southeast region team had to do was bring Lathan Norton from second base to home in three out, and they would be the 2024 LLWS champions. On the first pitch on the bottom on the eighth, Hunter Alexander laid down a perfect bunt down the first base line. Both the pitcher and the first baseman for Chinese Taipei charged the ball. When the pitcher, Chiu Wei-Che, fielded the ball, he instinctively threw the ball to first base. However, nobody was covering the base for Chinese Taipei. The ball flew into right field, and Norton scored all the way from second base, winning the game for Lake Mary, Florida. This game was the best game of the tournament and was an incredible way to cap off a great two weeks in Williamsport.
