Last night, in Liga Mexicana de Beisbol, Trevor Bauer broke a record that has stood for 50 years. In a dazzling performance, Bauer pitched 8.2 innings of one-run ball with five hits and 19 strikeouts, breaking the previous record of 18.

This record-breaking performance led the Diablos to a resounding victory over Guerreros de Oaxaca.

Bauer achieved this record 50 years after Ricardo Sandate tied the record of 18 strikeouts held by Lino Donoso, which he completed in 1951, and Martín Dihigo, who first set the record in 1939.

Utilizing his signature pitches, including his fastball and slider,  Bauer had many opportunities to break out his unique “Sword” celebration throughout the game.

After a dominating start to the game, he achieved double-digit strikeouts in the 4th inning and kept up that pace even after giving up a run in that inning. The 19th strikeout happened in the 9th inning when Bauer struck out Gabriel Luno.

According to Dan Clark on X, since Bauer got suspended from MLB in 2021, he has had a 2.21 ERA and 269 strikeouts in 232 innings, accumulated in Japan, Mexico, and Spring Training.

Bauer is highly active on social media, especially on X and YouTube, where he posts instructional baseball content that may help aspiring pitchers and breaks down his own games.

Trevor Bauer is not just making headlines with his starts; he’s also highlighting Liga Mexicana through his videos. His performances continue to captivate and inspire, fueling fans’ interest and admiration.

These performances only add more fuel to the fire about whether Bauer will return to the MLB.
