After winning the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol Pitcher of the Year award, Trevor Bauer is looking for new challenges.
The 202 National League Cy Young winner announced that on Sunday, November 3, he would be facing an all-European team on a field in England, for live batting practice.
The live at-bats showdown will take place at Finsbury Park, London, at noon GMT, or 5 p.m. EST. The lineup he will face is composed of players from nine different countries, and it will be streamed live on his Instagram account.
This is the second overseas event that Bauer has hosted, as he pitched against the Czech Republic team in late October. In that game, Bauer went five innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out three and walking two.
In 2023, Bauer pitched in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars. In his lone season with the BayStars, he went 10-4 with a 2.76 ERA while striking out 130 batters in 130 innings.
He returned to North America to pitch in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, where he led the team to the Copa Zaachila when they won the Serie del Rey. Bauer was a force and took home the league’s Pitcher of the Year award, going 10-0 with a 2.48 ERA and striking out 120 batters in 83 innings. On June 21, Bauer also broke the Diablos and LMB single-game strikeout record, fanning 19 against the Guerreros de Oaxaca.
Bauer is not currently signed for the summer of 2025, and it is unclear what he plans to do for the upcoming season. The Naranjeros de Hermosillo hold his rights in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico.
Bauer was suspended for 324 games by Major League Baseball for violating the leagues’ domestic violence and sexual assault policy after he was accused of sexual assault by a woman in Ohio, who said that Bauer beat her during their sexual encounter in 2017 when he pitching for the Cleveland Guardians. Two other women stated in 2021 they experienced similar dangerous behaviors from Bauer during sex.
The suspension was later reduced to 194 games by an arbitrator. Bauer had already sat out for that amount time and was reinstated to Major League Baseball.
Another woman who accused Bauer of sexual assault was charged by Arizona prosecutors with fraud related to her claims. Bauer has denied all the allegations leveled against him, and has never been arrested, indicted, charged, or convicted of a crime related to sexual assault.
