As international free agent signings are still being processed and finalized, the Kansas City Royals have signed outfielders Luis Ramon King and Luis Steven King. Luis Ramon received a $400,000 bonus, while Luis Steven received $170,000. They become the first pair of twins to sign with an MLB team during an international period, according to Francys Romero.

The brothers were born and raised in Sanamá City, Dominican Republic. Also, both the outfielders were trained by Alex Sanchez. It was reported in April 2024 that Luis Steven King was going to sign with the Houston Astros, but that deal had fallen through. Steven King is said to have a 70-80 grade arm based on the 20-80 scale, as he also profiles as a shortstop and an outfielder. He is 6’2”, with the potential to improve his power at the plate, with a good contact rate.

As for his brother, Luis Ramon King has been set to sign with the Kansas City Royals since April 2024. King also joins prospects Warren Calcaño, Ramcell Medina, and Luis German as other players that the Royals signed from the Dominican Republic. Ramon King could develop some intriguing power over the next few years, according to Jared Perkins of SB Nation.

It will be intriguing to see both twin brothers develop alongside one another throughout the ranks of the Royals farm system. In the history of MLB, there have been ten sets of twins that have reached the major leagues, as Tyler and Trevor Rogers are currently the only active set of twins in the MLB. Before the Rogers brothers, both Damon and Ryan Minor were the last pair of twins in MLB, and one of the most notable sets of twins are Jose and Ozzie Canseco, where Jose and Ozzie both played with the Athletics. As both the King brothers develop, it could be fun to hopefully see them penciled in the same lineup this upcoming 2025 season.
