Two Tennessee Coaches Following Tony Vitello to the San Francisco Giants

Two coaches from Tony Vitello’s staff at the University of Tennessee are following him to San Francisco to be a part of the Giants’ staff.

This week, it was announced that both Quentin Eberhardt and Frank Anderson will head to the San Francisco Giants to join Vitello in Major League Baseball.

Eberhardt served as the strength coach for the Tennessee baseball team from 2018 to 2021 and from July 2022 through the 2025 season. He briefly spent time with the Chicago Cubs in the middle of his coaching run with the Tennessee Volunteers.

Anderson has been with Tennessee since 2017, when Vitello took over as the head coach of the Volunteers.

Who are Eberhardt and Anderson’s Replacements?

Two coaches with Major League Baseball experience are replacing Eberhardt and Anderson on Tennessee head coach Josh Elander’s staff for the 2026 season.

Replacing Eberhardt will be Keegan Knoll, who is now the Director of Sports Performance for the Volunteers.

Knoll has eight years of experience in MLB. Notably, he was the Chicago Cubs’ head strength and conditioning coach from 2022-24.

In 2025, he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Milwaukee Brewers. During the 2025 season, the Brewers won 97 games and the NL Central for the third straight season.

Replacing Anderson at the pitching coach position will be Josh Reynolds. He has been in the Tennessee program since August 2024 as the Director of Baseball Operations and Pitching Performance.

In 2024, he was the pitching coach with the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Up Next for the Tennessee Volunteers

The Tennessee Volunteers will begin the 2026 college baseball season with a weekend series at Lindsey Nelson Stadium against the Nicholls Colonels.

The series will take place from February 13-15. The first pitch for Tennessee’s first game of the season against the Colonels on February 13 is at 4:30 p.m. EST.
