On Thursday, Chinese Taipei got their second win of Premier12 against the Dominican Republic in a low-scoring 2-1 game. Taipei went with Tzu-Peng Huang as their starting pitcher in the game, and he delivered some brilliant results for his team.
Huang went six innings against the Dominicans and tossed four strikeouts. However, the most impressive part of his start was giving up no hits and just one walk. This led to the D.R. having just one base runner while he was on the mound. That runner was Kelvin Gutierrez in the first inning.

This made for one of the best starts by a pitcher in Premier12. It is possibly the best start thus far in pool B play happening in Asia.
Huang has spent his professional baseball career playing in the Chinese Professional Baseball League for the Rakuten Monkeys. The 2024 season was his seventh season with the team.
In 2024, Huang made 16 starts and pitched 100.0 innings. He had a solid ERA of 3.51 and a WHIP of 1.28. His walk rate was the most impressive feature of his game, as it sat at around 5.03%. He also hardly gave up home runs, as his home run rate was below 1%.
Huang and Chinese Taipei will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 16. They will face Japan in the Taipei Dome, with the first pitch scheduled for 5 a.m. E.T.
