Australia struck early and held firm to secure a Game One victory over Guam in the U23 World Cup Oceania Qualifier.
Drew Davies (below), Matt Trainor and Josh Nati each drove in a first-inning run to give Australia a 3–0 lead. Davies doubled home two more in the second to stretch the margin to 5–0 before Trainor added his second RBI of the day in the sixth.

Starter Lachlan Brook threw 5.1 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Brook kept Guam scoreless through five before a brief pushback in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run hit from John Salas Jr.
BJay Cooke closed it out, tossing 1.2 hitless innings with three strikeouts and a walk.
Both sides finished with seven hits. Nati led the way, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Davies collected three RBI and five Australians tallied hits, including Max Durrington, Brad Griffin and Ben Nesbit.
