Team Australia wrapped up the 2025 U23 Oceania Championships in style, winning both games on Sunday to complete a five-game sweep over Guam and officially qualify for the U23 World Cup in Nicaragua this November.
The sweep capped a dominant week for the green and gold, who outscored Guam 53–5 across the series.
But the final day brought the closest game yet…
Morning Game: Australia 4 def Guam 2
Drew Davies blasted a two-run walk-off homer to break a 2–2 tie in the bottom of the seventh. It was his fourth straight game with three RBI, a streak that defined Australia’s offensive consistency all week.
On the mound, Tom Stancic, Ben Walmsley and Jackson Grounds combined for a standout effort.
Stancic struck out five across three innings of one-run ball to set the tone. Walmsley followed with two perfect frames and four punchouts before Grounds fanned four over the final two innings to close it out.
Guam refused to go quietly.
Starter Marko Parks worked six gritty innings, holding Australia to three earned runs and keeping the game in the balance until the final swing.
Guam tied it up in the top of the seventh before Davies’ walk-off sealed another win for the hosts.
Afternoon Game: Australia 10 def Guam 0

Athletics prospect Max Durrington exploded for six RBI, including a pair of triples, as Australia rolled to a 10–0 win to end the series.
The Aussies scored in four straight innings, piling on three in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
Jake Burns chipped in with two hits, while Davies added yet another RBI to bring his tournament total to 13 across five games.
Every batter in the starting lineup reached base as Australia outhit Guam 7–2.
Pitching once again led the way, with Tyrone Fergie tossing four scoreless innings. He allowed just two hits and two walks to pair with his four punch outs. Jai Hewitt closed the door with a perfect fifth.
The five-game sweep secured Australia’s place at the 2026 U23 World Cup in Nicaragua, where the team will represent Oceania on the global stage.
