Team USA manager Andy Stankiewicz looks on during the 2017 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup at Siebert Field.

USA Baseball announced on April 1 that Andy Stankiewicz will manage the 2025 Collegiate National Team for its international series against Japan’s Collegiate All-Star Team this summer. The series will take place from July 8-13 across multiple venues in Japan.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Andy back to manage this year’s Collegiate National Team,” said Eric Campbell, USA Baseball’s General Manager of Collegiate and Professional National Teams, in the organization’s official announcement. “He has had a lot of success at not just the collegiate level, but also with Team USA and he knows what it takes to win on the international stage. We are confident that Andy will guide our team to a great deal of success while providing unparalleled guidance to the top non-draft eligible players in the country.”

The final roster will be selected following the annual Stars vs. Stripes series, scheduled for June 29 through July 3 at venues across North Carolina. Select players may also be chosen to compete in a Fourth of July game against the Appalachian League Select Team in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

This summer marks Stankiewicz’s fifth stint with USA Baseball. He previously served as an assistant coach for the Collegiate National Team in 2012 and 2023 and managed the U-18 National Team in 2014 and 2017. He led the U-18 team to a gold medal at the 2017 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup and helped the squad qualify at the 2014 Americas Qualifier.

Stankiewicz was named head coach at USC in July 2022. Since taking over, he has guided the Trojans to their first back-to-back 30-win seasons since 2001 and 2002 and their first consecutive top-four conference finishes since 2014 and 2015, just ahead of the school’s move to the Big Ten Conference for 2025.

Before his return to Southern California, Stankiewicz spent 11 seasons as head coach at Grand Canyon University. There, he led the program from Division II into the Division I era in 2014 and built a contender in the Western Athletic Conference. Under his leadership, GCU won five WAC regular season titles—2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2022—a WAC West Division title in 2022, and the WAC Tournament Championship in 2021. He was named WAC Coach of the Year four times and helped produce 21 Major League Baseball Draft picks before departing in 2022.

He began his coaching career in professional baseball with the Staten Island Yankees, managing the Class-A affiliate from 2004 to 2005 and guiding them to a New York-Penn League championship in 2005. He then served as an assistant coach at Arizona State University from 2007 to 2009, helping the Sun Devils win three Pac-10 titles and make two College World Series appearances. After that, he worked as a minor league field coordinator for the Seattle Mariners until accepting the Grand Canyon job in 2012.

Stankiewicz played at Pepperdine University from 1983 until 1986 and currently ranks in the program’s top 10 with 172 runs scored, 755 at-bats, 121 walks, 101 stolen bases and a .828 stolen base percentage, and helped lead them to two NCAA regional appearances in 1985 and 1986 before being drafted by the New York Yankees in the 12th round of the 1986 MLB Draft after his senior season.

He played seven seasons in Major League Baseball with the Yankees from 1992–93, the Houston Astros from 1994–95, the Montreal Expos from 1996–97, and the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1998 during their inaugural season.

As a collegiate head coach, Stankiewicz currently owns a record of 82-62-1 at USC and 423-301-3 overall.

Team USA’s Collegiate National Team will feature top NCAA Division I players eligible to compete internationally after the conclusion of the 2025 college season.
