USA Collegiate National Team Players Who Stood Out in First Burlington Exhibition Game

BURLINGTON, N.C. – On Saturday, June 27, the USA Collegiate National Team began its exhibitions with a 9-1 victory over the MLB Draft Appalachian League’s Greeneville Flyboys.

Many of the best college baseball players from around the country stood out in the dominant win for the USA Baseball squad. World Baseball Network highlights some of the players who had big performances.

Anthony Pack Jr. and Derrick Pitts with three hits apiece

Texas’ Anthony Pack Jr. and Cincinnati’s Derrick Pitts led the USA Collegiate squad in hitting against Greeneville with three hits apiece. Pack Jr. hit a home run in the fourth inning during the win over the Flyboys, and Pitts had a double.

The Texas star led the USA team in RBIs with three, and Pitts had an RBI as well.

Pack Jr. is coming off a huge freshman season with the Texas Longhorns. He was the 2026 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Freshman of the Year and was named a first-team Freshman All-American by the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Pack Jr. finished the season with a .355 batting average and a .480 on-base percentage. He also had 12 home runs, 56 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases.

Pitts had a breakout season in 2026 with the Cincinnati Bearcats. He had a .329 batting average, 12 doubles, 42 RBIs, and a .423 on-base percentage. He was a top-five hitter on a Cincinnati team that made the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season.

Other players on the USA Collegiate National Team who had good offensive days include West Virginia’s Gavin Kelly and Vanderbilt’s Ryker Waite. Both players had two hits apiece. Kelly had two RBIs and a double in the win over the Flyboys.

Aidan King and Wylan Moss lead the charge for Team USA pitching

Florida’s Aidan King and UCLA’s Wylan Moss led the charge for Team USA in pitching against the Flyboys at Burlington Athletic Stadium.

King started on the mound for Team USA and had five strikeouts in two scoreless innings of work. He did not walk any batters.

Moss came in for King once he exited the game. The UCLA right-handed pitcher earned the win on the mound with three strikeouts and just one hit allowed across two innings of work. Much like King, Moss also allowed no runs during his appearance against Greeneville.

King is the 2026 SEC Pitcher of the Year after a great season with the Florida Gators. In 87 innings of work, he had a 3.21 ERA and 92 strikeouts. King had an 8-2 record in 2026 with the Gators.

Moss was named first-team All-Big Ten during his sophomore season with the Bruins. In 65 innings of work, he had a 2.49 ERA and 76 strikeouts. He allowed an opposing batting average of .196 with UCLA this past season.

Team USA compiled 13 strikeouts against Greeneville on Saturday. Along with eight strikeouts from King and Moss, Ole Miss left-hander Walker Hooks, Auburn’s Jackson Sanders, and Florida’s Jackson Barberi all had strikeouts and allowed no runs in their appearances.

Sanders had two strikeouts in the win, while Hooks and Barberi each had one apiece.
