The USA collegiate team dazzled fans at First National Bank Field in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Tuesday, throwing a combined no-hitter. The US team used three pitchers to silence Chinese Taipei.

Jamie Arnold from Florida State pitched four innings and struck out seven hitters to begin the no-no. UC Santa Barbara’s Tyler Bremner added three innings of his own and set up Georgia’s Alton Davis II to put the finishing touches on the no-hitter. The trio combined for fourteen strikeouts to lead the US to the 9-0 victory.

This was the first no-hitter thrown by the collegiate national team since July 1, 2015, when the team shut down Cuba.

Team USA’s offense immediately came to the defense of its pitchers, scoring four runs in the first. They added two more runs in the fifth and finished the scoring in the sixth inning. Texas’ Max Belyeu made a play on a line drive to right field to collect the final out and complete the no-hit bid. Belyeu and Caden Bodine from Coastal Carolina contributed two RBIs for Team USA.

Team USA will finish the 21st USA vs. Chinese Taipei international friendship series on Wednesday, July 3rd, in Kannapolis, North Carolina. After that game, the collegiate national teams will wrap up their tour with an intersquad match in Fayetteville, N.C., on July 4th.
