The Vanderbilt Commodores swept the Tennessee Volunteers in their weekend series at Hawkins Field in Nashville.

On Friday, March 27, Vanderbilt and Tennessee were tied 2-2 at the end of nine innings. Therefore, extra innings had to be played to determine a winner.
In the bottom of the tenth inning, Logan Johnstone hit a ball into left field that scored Vanderbilt pinch runner Cade Sears. This led to a 3-2 win for the Commodores to open the series.

On Saturday, March 28, Tennessee and Vanderbilt engaged in a tight-knit battle that went 16 total innings.
The two teams were tied up 5-5 for nine and a half innings until the bottom of the 16th inning.
Mack Whitcomb laid a bunt down that scored his teammate Rustan Rigdon, resulting in a 6-5 win for Vanderbilt. The win on Saturday secured the series victory for the Commodores.

On Sunday, March 29, Vanderbilt entered the ninth inning against Tennessee, losing 15-10.
Whitcomb came through once again and had a base hit that scored two runs, making it a 15-12 game.
Then, Vanderbilt loaded the bases, Tommy Goodin came to the plate and hit a grand slam to walk off the final game of the series. Thus, the Commodores completed a sweep of Tennessee.

Up next for Vanderbilt
After sweeping Tennessee, the Vanderbilt Commodores have a 17-12 overall record. They are also 5-4 in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.
Their next game is on Tuesday, March 31, against the Belmont Bruins. The game is at Hawkins Field in Nashville, and the first pitch is at 7 p.m. ET.
