On Friday, the Vanderbilt Commodores added to a loaded 2026 high school recruiting class with a commitment from Murrysville, Pa., native Luke Williams.

The 2026 prospect is ranked 14th overall in his high school class according to Perfect Game. He plays both shortstop and the outfield.

This commitment to Vanderbilt comes after Williams decommitted from Virginia. This happened when the Cavaliers’ former head coach, Brian O’Connor, left to go be the head coach at Mississippi State.

Williams currently plays high school baseball for Franklin Regional High School. He also plays for the Detroit Tigers scout team in the USA Prime National program.

That scout team is full of talent, which includes many college baseball commits. There are other Vanderbilt commits on the Tigers’ scout team as well, including AJ Calio, Keller Bradley, and Eric Booth Jr.

Perfect Game praises the Pennsylvania prospect for his elite defense and arm talent. The website’s scouting report also states that he can be a formidable defender at both shortstop and center field.

Vanderbilt’s 2026 high school recruiting class is as good as any in college baseball. According to Perfect Game, the Commodores have 10 top 100 recruits in their 2026 class. They currently have the most top 100 commits out of any team in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Head coach Tim Corbin currently has Vanderbilt’s 2026 recruiting class in the top five of Perfect Game’s rankings. The other teams in the top five, along with the Commodores, are Texas, LSU, Tennessee, and Florida.
