Vanderbilt infielder Tommy Goodin is off to a great start in the 2026 Cape Cod League this summer.
On Sunday, June 28, Goodin was named the Cape Cod League’s Player of the Week. He won the award alongside UConn’s Olivier Pudvar, who won the Picther of the Week award.
World Baseball Network takes a look at how Goodin has been playing this summer on the Massachusetts coast.
Goodin and his season in the Cape Cod League and with the Commodores
This summer, Goodin is playing for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. He has a .295 average with 13 hits and 11 RBIs.
Three out of his 13 hits in the 2026 Cape Cod League have been home runs. He hit all three home runs from June 21-27, and the long ball played a big part in winning the Player of the Week award. Goodin is tied for second in the Cape Cod League in home runs behind VCU’s Jacob Lee.
In 2026, Goodin put together a solid season for the Vanderbilt Commodores. He had a .287 batting average with eight doubles, 12 home runs, and 36 RBIs.
Goodin also showed how good he was defensively with just one error out of 198 total chances, leading to a .995 fielding percentage.
It was a great sophomore season for Goodin in Nashville after making no playing appearances during his freshman season in 2025.
With a great summer in the Cape Cod League after a solid first full season of playing time, Goodin can step into the role as one of Vanderbilt’s best players in 2027.
Season results for Vanderbilt in 2026
For the first time since 2005, the Vanderbilt Commodores failed to make the NCAA Tournament. They finished the 2026 season with a 33-25 overall record and a 14-16 Southeastern Conference (SEC) record.
