The La Gente Del Barrio Foundation, in collaboration with Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s V27 Foundation, will host the La Gente Del Barrio Celebrity Softball Game and Home Run Derby on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at loanDepot Park in Miami.
The event will unite some of baseball’s biggest Latin stars, musicians, and community figures for a day celebrating the global game. Proceeds from the event will benefit both foundations and partner programs dedicated to youth development and sports access across the Americas. Tickets are available now at Marlins.com/Derby.
La Gente Del Barrio described the event as:
“Baseball’s biggest Latin stars send balls soaring all over Miami at the Latin party that unites our communities.

La Gente Del Barrio’s organizers described the event as “a Latin party that unites our communities.” Their promotional statement named several marquee players — “The ALCS MVP Vladimir Guerrero Jr. welcomes his friends Ronald Acuña Jr., Juan Soto, Elly De La Cruz, Noelvi Marte, Gleyber Torres, Anthony Santander, Julio Rodríguez, Yuli Gurriel, and others” — emphasizing how the gathering serves as both a reunion of MLB’s brightest international stars and a prelude to the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Teoscar Hernández: Dodgers Power Meets Blue Jays Legacy
Teoscar Hernández’s name immediately jumps off the lineup card. The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder and three-time Silver Slugger has built a reputation as one of the most dangerous right-handed hitters in the sport. His participation adds a compelling subplot — a former Toronto Blue Jay now representing the defending World Series champions in a showcase hosted by Guerrero Jr., his onetime teammate.
Born in Cotuí, Dominican Republic, Hernández made his Major League debut against Toronto in 2016 and has since climbed among baseball’s elite power bats. Across ten seasons with Houston, Toronto, Seattle, and Los Angeles, he’s produced more than 200 home runs and nearly 700 RBIs while maintaining a lifetime .800 OPS. In 2024, his first year with the Dodgers, he helped deliver the franchise’s eighth championship and earned another Silver Slugger honor.
Now 33, Hernández remains central to the Dodgers’ bid for back-to-back titles, and his appearance in Miami cements his standing as one of Latin baseball’s defining stars of the past decade.
Gleyber Torres: Venezuelan Consistency and Veteran Leadership
From Caracas to the Bronx and now Detroit, Gleyber Torres continues to represent Venezuelan excellence on the diamond. The 28-year-old infielder, a three-time All-Star, completed his first season with the Tigers after seven with the Yankees, where he became a fixture in the middle of one of MLB’s most visible lineups.
Torres’s 2025 season reinforced his reputation as one of baseball’s most reliable everyday players. He hit .256 with 16 home runs, 74 RBIs, and a .358 on-base percentage — a disciplined approach that reflects both maturity and endurance. Over his eight-year career, he’s surpassed 150 home runs and posted an .770 OPS, numbers that underscore his steady production across changing teams and roles.
For Venezuelan fans, Torres’s presence at loanDepot Park will add pride and continuity to an event that celebrates not only talent but national identity within the global game.
Junior Caminero: The Game’s New Electricity
No young player in baseball has generated more excitement in 2025 than Junior Caminero. At just 21 years old, the Tampa Bay Rays infielder launched 45 home runs and drove in 110 runs, cementing his status as one of the league’s most dynamic young sluggers.
Caminero’s raw power and composure at the plate have already placed him in rare company — a 40-homer hitter before his 22nd birthday and a potential cornerstone for Mexico’s roster in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. His breakout 2025 season wasn’t just a flash of talent; it was a statement of how global scouting and player development continue to reshape Major League Baseball.
His inclusion at La Gente Del Barrio adds a new layer of excitement — a glimpse of baseball’s next superstar generation alongside established All-Stars.
Music, Culture, and Community in Miami
Beyond the diamond, the event will fuse baseball with music and Miami’s Latin soul. The Latin Grammy–winning duo Gente de Zona will perform live at loanDepot Park, and Chef Jesús Díaz, one of Venezuela’s most recognizable culinary figures, will take part in the celebrity game, highlighting how the event blends sport, culture, and philanthropy.
Both the La Gente Del Barrio Foundation and the V27 Foundation will direct proceeds toward community initiatives throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. For Miami — the same city set to host Pool C of the 2026 World Baseball Classic just three months later — this event marks another step in the city’s evolution as the heart of international baseball.
