Vladimir Guerrero Jr. won his second Silver Slugger Award with the Toronto Blue Jays after a strong 2024 season.
Guerrero was a finalist alongside Cleveland Guardians Josh Naylor and Minnesota Twins Carlos Santana. Guerrero had a slow start to the season, hitting just .231 in early May. However, he turned things around and finished the season with a .323 average and 30 home runs.
The last time Guerrero won the Silver Slugger Award was in 2021. That was also the first year he was named an All-Star. Since then, he has been named an All-Star every year. Guerrero fell one home run shy of Naylor, who paced all American League first basemen in home runs. However, Guerrero led in OPS, runs, and doubles.
Guerrero’s second Silver Slugger Award matches his father at the same age. Vladimir Guerrero Sr. won eight Silver Slugger Awards in his Hall of Fame career.
Guerrero’s .323 average was the best in baseball. Despite the Blue Jays’ failure to reach the postseason, Guerrero showcased why he is one of the best players in the game.
