Wake Forest shortstop Blake Schaaf is one of the best hitters in the 2026 Cape Cod League. In 114 at-bats with the Bourne Braves, he has a .360 batting average with a .451 on-base percentage. Schaaf is second in the Cape Cod League in batting average behind only Andrew Costello. Costello is a former Wake Forest player who transferred to South Carolina for the upcoming 2027 college baseball season.
Schaaf also has stretched out some extra-base hits this summer with six doubles and three triples, while also having 15 RBIs. The Oakland native has been a base-stealing threat in the Cape Cod League with 13 stolen bases. He is top ten in the Cape Cod League this summer in stolen bases.
Schaaf and his career with Wake Forest and Georgetown
In 2026, Schaaf played his first season in Winston-Salem for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He had a .324 batting average in 173 at-bats with 14 doubles, two triples, and 33 RBIs.
Schaaf had five home runs for the Demon Deacons during the 2026 college baseball season. The long ball was on full display during a two-home run game he had against the N.C. State Wolfpack on April 17. Wake Forest won that game 22-1 in seven innings.
Schaaf was one of the top hitters on a Wake Forest team that made the NCAA Tournament, along with the likes of Javar Williams and Kade Lewis.
Before playing for the Demon Deacons, Schaaf played for the Georgetown Hoyas in 2025. That season, he had a .344 batting average and a .442 on-base percentage. He showed off his base-stealing ability while playing for Georgetown with 31 stolen bases.
Schaaf is entering his senior season in 2027 as arguably the best hitter Wake Forest has. He will be a major hitter to watch in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
