Wake Forest took down Notre Dame 19-5 in a run-rule victory on Friday. Shortstop Marek Houston led the way and was big for the Demon Deacons as he had a 10-RBI night.

Houston’s explosive night on offense began in the second inning on a sac-fly. This increased Wake Forest’s lead out to 5-0. He then hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning, bringing his RBI total up to four.

In the same inning, he hit a bases-clearing double to make it a 15-3 game in favor of the Demon Deacons. In the fifth inning, he hit yet another bases-clearing double to further increase Wake Forest’s lead.

The Demon Deacons scored 14 runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined in large part due to Houston’s contributions on offense.

The junior shortstop has been great all season as he leads Wake Forest in hitting and is one of the best hitters in the ACC. He has a .431 batting average, a 1.372 OPS, six home runs, and 32 RBI.

This game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish was the cherry on top to his season so far. Perhaps this game helps his draft stock, the MLB pipeline has Houston ranked 16th overall.

Wake Forest will look to beat Notre Dame again on Saturday, Mar. 8. If they do, they will win their first ACC series of the year. The first pitch at David F. Couch Ballpark is scheduled for 5 p.m. EST.
