WBN’s college baseball international player of the week is Lindenwood Polish outfielder Filip Sarota.
Lindenwood is a D1 Baseball school located in St. Charles, MO. Sarota, 22, is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed hitter born in Warsaw, Poland. Lindenwood is in the Ohio Valley Conference. Sarota is the only active Polish player in D1 Baseball.
Sarota’s numbers this season are three home runs, 10 RBI, a .313 batting average, and an OPS of 1.045 in 32 at-bats. He is on pace to hit several career highs with Lindenwood. Last season, he had five home runs, 23 RBI, and an OPS of .719 in 120 at-bats.
He played two years at Highland Community College from 2022 to 2023 and, in the summer of 2023, with the Kokomo Jackrabbitts in the Northwoods League. In 105 at-bats with the Kokomo Jackrabbitts, he had two home runs, 20 RBI, six stolen bases, and an OPS of .758.
This past week, he had one home run and seven RBI, including three RBI in two separate games against Mississippi Valley on February 22 and 23. He also added a double and three walks during that span.
He played for Team Poland in the WBSC U23 European Championship in 2024 from July 24-27 at the Little League EMEA Training Center in Kutno, Poland. In four games, Sarota had three home runs, eight RBI, two doubles, and five hits in 17 at-bats (.294 batting average). Team Poland went 2-2 and was the runner-up to Team Lithuania losing 9-10 in the gold medal game.
