WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals 2025: Japan with the lead against USA in Bronze Medal Game

Welcome to the final day of the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals, with the medal games at Prime Ministers’ Park in Prince Albert. USA and Japan go face to face for the bronze medal at 11 a.m. (local time in Prince Albert).

For USA, this is the second Bronze Medal Game in a row, as they placed third in 2022 with a 2-0 win against Argentina. Japan own a bronze medal from the 1996 World Cup in Midland, losing the final against the New Zealand Black Sox.

Previously in this event, Japan and USA played on 9 July, with a 5-4 win for Asian side.

Schedule & Results

Both coaches sent their aces into the circle to start the game. For USA, Marco Diaz has worked 23.1 innings in the tournament, collecting 29 strikeouts while giving up 11 runs. Japan sent Hiroki Ikeda, who had 37 strikeouts in 28 innings of work. He allowed 14 runs.

Japan took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Yusuke Morita walked, then moved to third on a Kotaro Yasumi single and finally scored the first run of the game on a sac fly from Kaito Masaki.
