The road to the WBSC Premier12 2027 reaches its final qualifying stage as four nations compete in Zhongshan, China, for the remaining two spots in the expanded 16-team tournament field.
The WBSC Premier12 2027 Zhongshan Qualifier is scheduled for Nov. 26-28 at Panda Heritage Stadium and will serve as the second and final qualifier following the Barcelona Qualifier in October. The three-day tournament will feature a single round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the Premier12 2027 Opening Round.
Twelve nations have already secured their places in the tournament: Japan, Chinese Taipei, the United States, South Korea, Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Netherlands, Cuba, Australia and the Dominican Republic. The Zhongshan Qualifier will determine the final two teams that complete the 16-nation field.

The four-team field features a mix of established international programs, emerging baseball nations and players with professional experience looking to make an impact on the global stage.
Players on the 40-man rosters of Major League Baseball teams haven’t been able to play in previous Premier12 tournaments, but it is possible that eligibility rules could be changed prior to October’s first qualifier in Barcelona.
Great Britain (No. 20 in WBSC’s World Baseball Ranking) – Great Britain enters the Zhongshan Qualifier with one of the most experienced rosters in the tournament, featuring several players with Major League and Minor League Baseball experience. Despite entering the qualifier ranked No. 20 in the WBSC World Rankings, Great Britain has the professional depth and talent to compete for one of the tournament’s final qualifying spots.
Harry Ford, C – One of Great Britain’s offensive leaders, Ford is a top prospect in the Washington Nationals organization and serves as a co-captain of the national team. He provides a disciplined approach at the plate, strong on-base ability and defensive skills behind the plate. Ford is expected to play a key role in both the lineup and managing the pitching staff throughout the tournament.
Tristan Beck, RHP – The San Francisco Giants right-hander brings Major League experience to Great Britain’s pitching staff. If available, Beck is a candidate to start the tournament opener against Nicaragua and has the ability to keep opposing hitters off balance while providing quality innings for Great Britain.
Nicaragua (No. 15 in the WBR) – Nicaragua enters the qualifier as the highest-ranked team in the field, sitting at No. 15 in the WBSC World Rankings. With a roster built around strong pitching, solid defense and recent international success, Nicaragua enters Zhongshan looking to secure one of the final spots in the Premier12 2027 Opening Round.
Carlos Rodríguez, RHP – Rodríguez, who made his Major League debut this season with the Milwaukee Brewers, headlines Nicaragua’s pitching staff. As one of the team’s top arms, he could take on a major role during the qualifier and provide quality innings against some of the tournament’s strongest offenses should MLB players be eligible.
Freddy Zamora, INF – Zamora brings Triple-A experience and defensive versatility to Nicaragua’s infield. Along with his reliable glove, he has the ability to produce timely extra-base hits and provide offensive contributions throughout the tournament.
Czechia (No. 16 in the WBR) – Czechia enters the Zhongshan Qualifier ranked No. 16 in the WBSC World Rankings and continues to establish itself as one of Europe’s top baseball programs. The team combines strong chemistry, disciplined fundamentals and a roster featuring players with professional and collegiate experience.
Martin Červenka, C – A former Triple-A catcher in the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets organizations, Červenka is one of Czechia’s veteran leaders. His experience behind the plate and ability to contribute offensively make him one of the team’s most important players.
Marek Chlup, OF – Chlup is one of Czechia’s top power hitters and has developed into one of the country’s most dangerous offensive threats. His ability to impact a game with his power could be a difference-maker in a short tournament format.
China (No. 18 WBSC World Ranking) – Playing on home soil, China enters the qualifier ranked No. 18 in the WBSC World Rankings and will look to use its home-field advantage while competing for one of the tournament’s two qualifying spots. The host nation is expected to rely on strong pitching, fundamental execution and a disciplined offensive approach.
Jeremy Wu-Yelland, LHP – Wu-Yelland brings professional experience from the United States and adds another experienced arm to China’s pitching staff. The left-hander provides versatility on the mound and could play an important role against some of the qualifier’s strongest lineups.
Li Ning, C – A veteran member of China’s national team, Li brings international experience and defensive stability behind the plate. His familiarity with international competition gives China an experienced presence at catcher throughout the qualifier.
