We’re All Tied Up! American League Division Series Game 2 Recaps

One Thing From Game 2 of Each American League Division Series

For the first time ever, each division series is tied up at 1-1. The Royals and Tigers stole games on the road with a chance to win their respective series at home.

Kansas City Royals 4, New York Yankees 2: Carlos Rodón started the game looking strong. However, the fourth inning taxed him four earned runs, starting with a Salvador Pérez solo home run. The Yankees offense struggled. They left eight runners stranded and went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Cole Ragans gave the Royals four strong innings, allowing just one home run. Confidence has not waivered for the Yankees. After the game, Jazz Chisholm Jr. told reporters, “We’re gonna win it… We had a lot of missed opportunities tonight. [The Royals] just got lucky.”

Detroit Tigers 3, Cleveland Guardians 0: The Tigers won in a miraculous fashion. A go-ahead home run in the ninth inning is not the craziest thing, but it should be considered special when it comes off of Emmanuel Clase. Clase had allowed just two home runs all season, and Kerry Carpenter added a third to that list. He hit a three-run, go-ahead homer in the ninth inning. The Guardians could not respond as they head to Detroit tied at 1-1.
