Nicaragua and Chinese Taipei qualified for the 2026 World Baseball Classic in the first round of World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in Taipei. Monday’s first game in Tucson was an electric contest between Brazil and Germany. The night game in the desert was an 8-1 win for Colombia over China. Colombia will have a chance to advance with a win over Germany tonight.
1 p.m. EST – China vs. Brazil
8 p.m. EST – Germany vs. Colombia
China vs. Brazil – Brazil comes into the matchup 1-1. A win over China would secure their spot in Thursday’s qualifier game to advance to the World Baseball Classic. A loss for China would eliminate them from qualifying.
Germany vs. Colombia – Germany was unable to complete a comeback against Brazil, falling to 1-1. Colombia qualifies for the 2026 World Baseball Classic with a win. Meanwhile, a win for Germany would keep them alive, at the least. A win by Germany coupled with a win from Brazil would create a three-way tie and a tiebreaker would be needed to decide who advances to play in the qualifier game.
