Noah Schultz, a towering 6-foot-10 lefty and the No. 13 overall prospect on MLBPipeline.com, was promoted by the Chicago White Sox to Triple-A Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham on June 13, according to Elijah Evans of Just Baseball Media.

Schultz is the top-ranked prospect in the White Sox organization and MLBPipeline’s highest-rated left-handed pitching prospect.

The 21-year-old from Naperville, Ill., was selected 26th overall in the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft by the White Sox. He signed for $2.8 million out of Oswego East High School, forgoing a college commitment to Vanderbilt University.

This season with Double-A Birmingham, Schultz went 4-3 with a 3.34 ERA in 12 starts. He threw 56.2 innings, allowed 54 hits, 21 earned runs, three home runs, 36 walks, struck out 58, and posted a 1.588 WHIP.

In the 2024 season, Schultz was selected to the Futures Game at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. He was named a Baseball America Double-A All-Star, Southern League Pitcher of the Year, and a Southern League Postseason All-Star. Earlier this year during the 2025 Cactus League season, Schultz went 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA across three appearances (one start), throwing 4.2 innings, allowing two hits, two earned runs, eight walks, and striking out four.

Last year, Schultz split time between High-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham, going 0-4 with a 2.24 ERA across 23 starts. He logged 88.1 innings, allowed 63 hits, 22 earned runs, three home runs, 24 walks, struck out 115 batters, and posted a 0.985 WHIP.

In his 2023 professional debut with Low-A Kannapolis, Schultz went 1-2 with a 1.33 ERA in 10 starts. He pitched 27 innings, gave up 17 hits, four earned runs, three home runs, six walks, and struck out 38.

Over three minor league seasons, Schultz holds a career record of 5-9 with a 2.46 ERA in 45 starts. He has thrown 172 innings, allowed 134 hits, 47 earned runs, nine home runs, walked 66, struck out 211, and maintained a 0.852 WHIP.

According to his MLB Pipeline scouting report, “Schultz creates exceptional horizontal movement on a wipeout slider that continues to gain velocity—now sitting in the low 80s and reaching 88 mph. He has boosted his fastball from 89-92 mph in high school to 93-97 with a peak of 99 mph as a pro. He blows four-seamers by hitters up in the strike zone but doesn’t miss many bats when he tries to sink heavy two-seamers, generating a lot of ground-ball contact instead. He has done a nice job honing an upper-80s changeup that can get a bit firm but is a solid offering that fades in an opposite direction from his slider.”

Schultz’s scouting grades include a 60 fastball, 70 slider, 55 changeup, 55 control, and 60 overall.

The Charlotte Knights (32-35) will play the second game of their three-game road series against the Durham Bulls (38-29), the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, at 6:35 p.m. EDT on June 14 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C.
