Wednesday’s Winter Ball Playoff Results
Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico
Charros de Jalisco 6, Tomateros de Culiacan 2 – Mateo Gil hit a two-run triple in the first to score Michael Wielansky and Julian Ornelas, giving Jalisco an early 2-0 lead.
The Tomateros got one back in the first when Estevan Florial scored on a double by Orlando Martinez.
The Charros tacked on another in the second on a solo homer from Reynaldo Rodriguez to make it 3-1, but the Tomateros answered in the bottom of the frame when Ramon Rios drew a bases-loaded walk to push Ichiro Cano across to cut the lead to a single run again.
But Gil clubbed a three-run homer in the top of the third, giving the Charros a 6-2 lead, and that ended the night for Culiacan starter Manny Barreda, who allowed six runs on five hits over two innings of work, walking one and striking out two.

Aguilas del Zulia (7-6) 7, Caribes de Anzoategui (8-5) 3 – Andres Chapparo hit his sixth homer of the playoffs, a three-run shot in the sixth, to give Zulia a 6-3 lead. Chapparo went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, while Ali Castillo went 4-for-5 and scored twice, and Jaison Chourio went 3-for-4 as Zulia won its seventh game of the round robin.
Navegantes del Magallanes (7-6) 12, Bravos de Margarita (3-10) – Renato Nunez hit two grand slams, one in the fourth and one in the seventh, and Tucupita Marcano added a solo homer as the Navegantes del Magallanes climbed back above .500. Yohander Mendez threw five scoreless innings for Magallanes, allowing three hits, walking two, and striking out one. Nunez’ pair of grand slams marks the first time that feat has been achieved in the LVBP, and his eight RBIs in one game tied the league record.
