Charros de Jalisco 13, Aguilas de Mexicali 4 – The Charros scored two in the first and five in the second on their way to a 2-0 series lead over the Aguilas, and solo homers from Santiago Chavez in the third and Julian Ornelas in the fourth added more insurance. Ornelas, Alejandro Osuna, and Reynaldo Rodriguez each finished with two RBIs, and starter Luis Payan allowed three runs on four hits and two walks in five innings, striking out one. Alexis Wilson hit a three-run homer for Mexicali in the fifth, and Estevan Florial added a solo homer for the Aguilas in the sixth. The series resumes on Wednesday in Mexicali.
Tomateros de Culiacan 6, Algodoneros de Guasave 4 – A two-run single from Poncho Ruiz in the second gave the Tomateros the lead, and Culiacan kept adding on, getting an RBI single from Joey Meneses in the third and a two-run single from Ramon Rios and a sac fly by Ichiro Cano in the fourth. A three-run rally in the seventh got Guasave within two, but four Culiacan relievers combined to shut out the Algodoneros over the final two innings. Culiacan starter Aldo Montes went 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits and three walks, striking out five. The series resumes on Wednesday in Guasave.

Caribes de Anzoategui (4-2) 9, Navegantes del Magallanes (1-5) 6 – Yasiel Puig led off the second for the Navegantes with a solo homer, and they added four more runs in the inning on RBI doubles from Jose Gomez and Wilfredo Tovar and a single by Carlos Rodriguez, but it wasn’t enough. The Caribes got a solo homer from Hernan Perez in the third, a sac fly from Romer Cuadrado and an RBI double from Jesus Sucre in the fourth, and solo homers from Perez and Balbino Fuenmayor and an RBI single from Antonio Pinero in the fifth to take the lead. Diego Infante added a two-run homer in the seventh for Anzoategui.
Aguilas del Zulia (4-2) 6, Bravos de Margarita (1-4) 4 – Luis Castro hit a two-run homer in the fourth, Andres Chapparo and Simon Muzziotti each had RBI singles in the fifth, and Jose Herrera’s RBI double in the sixth plated Luis Castro with the winning run for Zulia. Eight Aguilas pitchers combined to allow four runs on nine hits, walking six and striking out six as Zulia claimed its fourth win of the round robin.
