Winter Ball Playoffs: Tomateros de Culiacan Advance; Santurce, Ponce Advance To LBPRC Title Series

Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico

Tomateros de Culiacan 3, Caneros de Los Mochis 0 – Starter Luis Cessa allowed four hits and struck out one over four scoreless innings, and the Tomateros’ bullpen allowed two hits and a walk over the five remaining innings to stifle the Caneros’ bats. Ali Solis hit a two-run double in the fourth, scoring Joey Meneses and Fernando Villegas, and Orlando Martinez hit a solo homer in the sixth to give the Tomateros the series win and put them four wins away from the 2026 Caribbean Series.

LBPRC

Cangrejeros de Santurce 6, Criollos de Caguas 1 (13 Innings) – After 11 scoreless innings, Santurce and Caguas traded runs in the 12th before the Cangrejeros broke the game open in the 13th to take Game 7 and the series. Shed Long Jr. drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 13th, and two batters later, Brian Navaretto hit a grand slam that put the game away. Nine Cangrejeros pitchers combined to allow nine hits, one run, and strike out 14 over the course of the game.

Leones de Ponce 4, Gigantes de Carolina 3 – Alex Dickerson hit a solo homer in the fourth, Aldemar Burgos had an RBI double in the three-run sixth, and the Leones survived a ninth-inning rally to take Game 7 and advance to the LBPRC title series against Santurce. Down to their last out with runners at the corners, the Gigantes got a three-run homer form Felix Stevens to get within one, but Ezequiel Duran struck out swinging to end the game. Brady Tedesco threw six scoreless innings for Ponce, allowing two hits and a walk, striking out seven.

Leones del Escogido (8-3) 7, Gigantes del Cibao (1-10) 7 (10 Innings) – Junior Lake’s two-run single in the bottom of the 10th ended the game and handed the Gigantes their 10th defeat of the round robin after a wild pitch by Cibao’s Jimmy Cordero allowed Franchy Cordero to scamper home in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game. David Banuelos hit a solo homer for Cibao. With the loss, the Gigantes’ tragic number is two, meaning they are two losses or two wins by the Toros del Este from being eliminated from contention for a spot in the LIDOM finals.

Aguilas Cibaenas (6-5) 3, Toros del Este (7-4) 1 – Leody Taveras scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the sixth, and Cristhian Adames and Angel Genao contributed RBI singles as the Aguilas pulled within a game of the Toros for second place in the 18-game round robin. Nine Cibaenas pitchers combined to allow one run on six hits and seven walks.
