Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico
Algodoneros de Guasave 7, Jaguares de Nayarit 0 – The top seed in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico playoffs won just one game in the postseason. The eighth-seeded Algodoneros de Guasave eliminated Nayarit with a shutout in Game 5 to take the first round series four games to one behind a stellar performance by the Algodoneros’ pitching staff, who used six pitchers to hold the Jaguares to just four hits in the game. Drew Avans went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, hitting a three-run triple in the bottom of the fourth and an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Francisco Pena drove in the game’s first run with a double in the first, Esteban Quiroz drove in another run with a sac fly in the second, and Jorge Flores tripled home a run in the fourth to get Guasave to the second round.
Charros de Jalisco 8, Naranjeros de Hermosillo 5 – Francisco Cordoba hit a three-run homer, Bligh Madris hit a solo homer, and Julian Ornelas stole home as the Charros took a 3-2 series lead on Tuesday night. Jalisco starter Luis Ivan Rodriguez threw five innings, allowing five runs on six hits, walking three and striking out six, and the bullpen allowed five hits and a walk over four shutout innings to put the Charros one win away from the second round.
Tomateros de Culiacan 2, Caneros de Los Mochis 0 – Starter Manny Barreda went 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing five hits and a walk, striking out four, as the Tomateros stayed alive in the first round. Joey Meneses provided all the offense Lorenzo Bundy’s club would need in the sixth, hitting an RBI double to left that scored Ramon Rios. Luis Verdugo singled home Meneses in the eighth for insurance.

They added two more when a wild pitch from Gigantes reliever Jimmy Cordero allowed Adames to score, and another on a double steal when a throwing error by Gigantes’ backstop Francisco Mejia was off the mark, allowing Steward Berroa to score to make it 6-3. The Gigantes rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth, but it wasn’t enough, as the Gigantes fell to 0-8 in the round robin.
