2027 Shriners Children’s College Showdown Field of Teams Announced

The field of teams for the 2027 Shriners Children’s College Showdown was announced on Tuesday, June 23. Eight college baseball teams will compete in the invitational event to kick off the 2027 season at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The ballpark is normally home to Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers.

The 2027 Shriners Children’s College Showdown will take place from February 19-21, 2027. World Baseball Network takes a look at the field of eight teams in next season’s event.

Reigning national champion Oklahoma Sooners head to Arlington once again

The Oklahoma Sooners will headline the 2027 Shriners Children’s College Showdown and return to the event once again. In 2026, the Sooners won all three games they played in the Shriners Showdown at Globe Life Field. This led to them winning the event to kick off this past college baseball season. They defeated Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and TCU in the 2026 Shriners Children’s College Showdown by a combined score of 32-6.

Afterward, Oklahoma went on to win its program’s third national championship and its first one since 1994 in the College World Series.

In 2026, the Sooners finished with a 43-23 overall record.

Texas and TCU represent the Lone Star State in the 2027 Shriners Children’s College Showdown

The Texas Longhorns and the TCU Horned Frogs will represent the state of Texas in the 2027 Shriners Children’s College Showdown.

TCU played in last season’s event and won two games against the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Vanderbilt Commodores. They finished the 2026 college baseball season with a 33-21 overall record.

The Texas Longhorns had a great 2026 season under second-year head coach Jim Schlossnagle. The Longhorns made the College World Series for the first time since 2022. They finished the year with a 46-15 overall record.

Texas played in the 2025 Shriners Children’s College Showdown and won the event. During their time at Globe Life Field that season, the Longhorns picked up wins over Ole Miss and Oklahoma State.

Clemson, Virginia, and Arizona round out the 2027 Shriners field of teams

The last three teams in the 2027 Shriners Children’s College Showdown field are the Clemson Tigers, Virginia Cavaliers, and the Arizona Wildcats.

Clemson played in the 2025 Shriners Children’s College Showdown, where they won two games against Oklahoma State and Arizona. In 2026, the Tigers finished with a 31-26 overall record.

Arizona, which played in the 2025 Shriners Showdown much like Clemson, had a disappointing 2026 season with a 19-34 record. The Wildcats went winless in 2025 at Globe Life Field to start that season. They lost to Ole Miss, Clemson, and Louisville.

The Virginia Cavaliers wrapped up their first season under head coach Chris Pollard in 2026. They finished with a 37-23 overall record and made the NCAA Tournament after missing it in 2025. During their run in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, Virginia won one game in the 2026 Hattiesburg regional against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
