Arkansas Is the New No. 1 in D1Baseball.com’s NCAA Poll

The latest NCAA Division I Top 25 rankings from D1Baseball.com were released on March 11. No programs dropped out of the Top 25 rankings during the second week of March. 

Arkansas (13-2) is ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time during the 2024 season and moved up from No. 2 after beating Central Arkansas 9-7 on March 3 and sweeping McNeese State in their three game series this past weekend. 

Louisiana State (14-2) moved up one spot to No. 2 and. The Fighting Tigers beat Southeastern Louisiana 4-3 on the road on March 6 and won two-of-three games against Xavier University at home, winning 4-0 on March 8, 8-2 on March 9, and losing 2-1 on March 10.

Oregon State (15-1) rose three spots to No. 3 and won four games from March 7-10 against California State University – Northridge.

Tennessee (16-1) rose from No. 8 to No. 5 and beat Kansas State 15-5 on March 5 at home, Southern Indiana 2-1 at home on March 6, and sweeping Illinois at home over the weekend. 

Florida (10-5) rose four spots to No. 4 despite losing to the University of Central Florida 9-6 on March 6 at home. The Gators won two-of-three against St. Mary’s College last weekend. 

Wake Forest (12-3) fell No. 7 in the country after being No. 1 to start the 2024 regular season. The Demon Deacons beat Georgetown 11-9 at home on March 5 lost two-of-three games to Duke at home last weekend. 

Duke University (13-2) surged from No. 12 to No. 6 after beating Appalachian State at home 28-2 on March 5 and winning two-of-three games against Wake Forest on the road, winning on Friday 8-5, losing on Saturday 6-3, and taking the final game 10-8 on Sunday. 

Texas A&M (16-0) is the only undefeated program in the rankings, and the Aggies moved up three spots from No. 7 to No. 4 in the nation after beating Texas in Austin 9-2 on March 5, winning against Texas Southern 7-4 at home on March 6, and sweeping Rhode Island at home over the weekend. 

Texas (9-6) rose one spot from No. 24 to No. 23 and took two-of-three games from Texas Tech on the road, winning 22-8 on March 8, losing 7-2 on March 9, and winning 9-7 on March 10. 

Texas Tech (11-4) fell seven spots to No. 24, and beat New Mexico on the road 11-8 on March 5. 

Texas Christian University (14-2) dropped from No. 5 to No. 12 and beat Abilene Christian University 4-0 on March 5. The Horned Frogs lost two-of-three games to the University of Kansas losing 3-1 on March 8, losing 8-4 on March 9, and winning the final game of the series 13-4 on March 10. 

North Carolina State (12-2) went from No. 14 to No. 13 after sweeping Boston College in a three-game home series over the weekend. 

The University of Alabama (15-1) went from No. 15 to No. 14 in the country, beating Troy University 8-7 and sweeping Lipscomb University in a three-game home series last weekend. 

North Carolina (14-2) moved up to No. 15 after beating Campbell University 7-3 on March 5 and sweeping the University of Pittsburgh in a three-game home series. 

The University of Virginia (13-3) fell four spots to No. 17 and lost Penn State University at home 6-3 on March 5, beat George Washington University on the road 26-12 on March 6, and lost two-of-three games on the road to the University of Miami. 

Ninth-ranked Vanderbilt University (14-3), No. 10 Clemson University (13-1), No. 11 East Carolina University at 10-4, and No. 25 UC Santa Barbara at 9-5 are the only four programs that did not change their ranking position from last week’s D1Baseball.com Top 25.
