On Thursday, May 21, Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn announced that Kuhio Aloy, the Razorbacks’ designated hitter, suffered a broken hamate bone during the SEC Tournament. Aloy will have surgery to help repair his injury.
Van Horn talked about Aloy’s injury and timetable with Whole Hog Sports.
“Supposedly, it’s healed in three weeks, then there’s the pain situation, then getting back into it,” Van Horn said. “If we’re fortunate enough to be playing in three weeks and he could play, we’ll see how that goes.”
Three weeks from May 21 is June 11, which is a day before the College World Series begins in Omaha.
Aloy in 2026 with Arkansas
This season, Aloy has a .293 batting average in 181 total at-bats. He also has eight doubles, nine home runs, and 41 RBIs. Aloy saw just one at-bat during the 2026 SEC Tournament in Hoover against the Tennessee Volunteers. Arkansas won that game 8-4.
Before that, Aloy had hits in four straight games against Kentucky and Oklahoma. During that stretch of four games, the Arkansas designated hitter had five hits and two RBIs. Two of his hits during that stretch were doubles, and he hit a home run against Oklahoma on May 10.
Aloy’s best game during the 2026 college baseball season came against the Ole Miss Rebels on May 1. He had a season-high three hits, which included a double, a home run, and three RBIs.
Aloy is eligible for the 2026 MLB Draft this July in Philadelphia as a junior.
Up next for Arkansas
While Aloy heals up from his hamate injury, the Arkansas Razorbacks will play the Texas Longhorns in the SEC Tournament quarterfinal on Friday, May 22. That game is at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex in Alabama, and the first pitch is at 4 p.m. ET. The game can be watched on SEC Network.
