Brooklyn Cyclones catcher Chris Suero, a Bronx, N.Y. native, leads all players across both High-A and Low-A levels in home runs to begin the 2025 Minor League Baseball season.

The 21-year-old right-handed hitter is ranked No. 22 on the New York Mets’ Top 30 Prospects list, according to MLBPipeline.com.

Suero signed with the Mets organization as an undrafted free agent on March 8, 2022.

In an interview on April 11 with The Show Before the Show, MiLB’s official podcast, Suero discussed his path through the Mets’ farm system and how the organization evaluated and ultimately signed him.

He is one of only three catchers currently ranked among the Mets’ top 30 prospects, along with Ronald Hernandez (No. 27, High-A Brooklyn) and Daiverson Gutierrez (No. 30, Low-A St. Lucie).

Through his first nine games of the 2025 season, Suero is slashing .353/.405/.941 with High-A Brooklyn. He has tallied 12 hits, five doubles, and 13 RBI across 37 plate appearances, while walking twice and striking out 13 times.

In Brooklyn’s 7-3 road win on April 16 against the Aberdeen IronBirds—the Baltimore Orioles‘ High-A affiliate—Suero was hit by a pitch, stole two bases, scored twice, and ripped a go-ahead two-run double to left field in the ninth inning off Aberdeen lefty Ty Weatherly.

Defensively, Suero has started six games behind the plate this season, logging 52 innings. He’s recorded 71 putouts, seven assists, and no errors across 78 total chances.

In addition to catching, Suero has made two starts at first base in 2025, handling 12 chances with one assist and turning two double plays over 16 innings. He also made one start in left field, playing all nine innings with three putouts.

During the 2024–25 LIDOM season, Suero briefly joined the Águilas Cibaeñas in the Dominican Republic, appearing in two games. He went hitless in three plate appearances with one strikeout.

Last season, he split time between Low-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn, appearing in 112 games. Across 457 plate appearances, Suero hit .236/.361/.369 with 89 hits, 17 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 60 RBI, 20 stolen bases, 62 walks, and 101 strikeouts.

Defensively in 2024, Suero caught eight games with seven starts for St. Lucie, posting a .989 fielding percentage over 65 innings. After his May 6 promotion, he started 50 games at catcher for Brooklyn, appearing in 52 total. He managed 475 chances over 435 innings with a .983 fielding percentage.

Across four minor league seasons—beginning in the Dominican Summer League in 2022, the Florida Complex League in 2023, and advancing through Low-A and High-A—Suero has played in 181 games with 704 plate appearances. He owns a .243 batting average, 139 hits, 30 doubles, four triples, 18 home runs, 94 RBI, 27 stolen bases, 103 walks, 161 strikeouts, and a .778 OPS.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (8-4) will continue their six-game road series against the Aberdeen IronBirds (6-6) on April 18 at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EDT and the game can be streamed on Bally Sports.
