Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman and front-runner candidate to play for Venezuela in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, Eugenio Suarez cranked four home runs with five RBI on Saturday night in front of 43,043 fans at Chase Field, though Arizona fell 8-7 in 10 innings to the Atlanta Braves in the second game of their three-game series.

Suarez became the 19th player in Major League Baseball history to hit four home runs in a single game.
Suarez followed up his historic night by going 1-for-3 on Sunday in Arizona’s 6-4 win against Atlanta, hitting a line-drive infield single to second base in the fourth inning, scoring one run, drawing one walk, and striking out once.
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh hit his 10th home run of the season on Sunday afternoon in their 7-6 home win over the Miami Marlins, and is now tied with Suarez for the Major League lead in home runs.
The 33-year-old right-handed slugger from Puerto Ordaz, Bolivar, Venezuela, leads the majors with 10 home runs entering Sunday afternoon.
Suarez is batting .202/.306/.564 across 27 games, with 19 hits, four doubles, 20 RBI, one stolen base, 11 walks, and 30 strikeouts over 108 plate appearances to begin the 2025 season.
Suarez is the second Latino-born player — and the first Venezuelan-born player — to hit four home runs in a single Major League game.
The last Latino-born player to accomplish the feat was former Toronto Blue Jays left-handed slugger Carlos Delgado, who hit four home runs on September 25, 2003.
Suarez and Delgado are the only players born outside the United States to hit four home runs in a Major League Baseball game.
Cuban-American and Miami native J.D. Martinez also hit four home runs in a game, doing so for the Arizona Diamondbacks on September 4, 2017, against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.
Suarez and Martinez are now the only players in Diamondbacks history to record four home runs in a game. Martinez was also the last player to accomplish the feat before Suarez’s performance.
Former Diamondbacks Steve Finley and Luis Gonzalez had previously each hit three home runs in a game for Arizona but never four.
According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Diamondbacks are the second team in Major League history to give up four home runs to a single player and lose. Former Braves infielder Bob Horner hit four home runs in a loss to the Montreal Expos on July 6, 1986.
The Arizona Diamondbacks become only the 2nd team in history to give up 4 HRs to a single player (Eugenio Suarez) and lose.
The other was Atlanta in 1986 when Bob Horner hit 4 HRs.— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) April 27, 2025
Nightengale also reported that Suarez is the third player in Major League history to hit four home runs in the month of April, joining Hall of Famers Willie Mays in 1961 and Mike Schmidt in 1976.

Advanced baseball researcher Sarah Langs stated that the Braves are the third team in Major League history to allow four home runs to an individual player and still win the game, joining the 1986 Braves and Ed Delahanty’s Philadelphia Phillies in 1896.
The Braves are the 3rd team to allow 4 home runs to an individual player and still win the game, joining:

Suarez’s historic night began with a solo shot against Braves starter Grant Holmes in the bottom of the second inning, launching a first-pitch 93.8 mph four-seam fastball 418 feet over the left-center field wall.
