This week, the Japan Breeze announced their roster for the 2025 Caribbean Series in Mexicali. One of the players included on the roster is a former Major League Baseball infielder, Munenori Kawasaki.
Kawasaki made his MLB debut for the Seattle Mariners on Apr. 7, 2012. He would finish that season with 107 at-bats.
From 2013-2015, he spent most of his career with the Toronto Blue Jays. His best season was in 2014, when he finished with a .258 batting average and recorded 62 hits.

Kawasaki’s last MLB season came in 2016 with the Chicago Cubs. During that season, they won the World Series and ended a 107-year championship drought.
Following the end of his MLB career, he went back to Japan to play Nippon Professional Baseball in 2017 for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. That season, he finished with a .241 batting average.
Now, Kawasaki gets his chance to represent Japan in a major international tournament in Mexico.
The Japan Breeze will begin their Caribbean Series run in Mexicali on Saturday, Feb. 1, when they will face the Dominican Republic. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:50 p.m. E.T.
