Georgia position players taken in the 2026 MLB Draft
A total of seven position players from the Georgia Bulldogs were selected in the 2026 MLB Draft.
The first Georgia player selected was 2026 Golden Spikes Award winner and catcher Daniel Jackson. He was selected in the Competitive Balance Round A by the Colorado Rockies with the 37th overall pick.
Jackson is joining the same farm system as fellow former Georgia player and former Golden Spikes winner Charlie Condon. Condon is the second-best prospect in the Colorado farm system, according to MLB Pipeline.
The next position player from Georgia selected in the 2026 MLB Draft was Rylan Lujo. The outfielder was selected in the fourth round with the 109th overall pick by the Los Angeles Angels.
Following Lujo, a pair of Georgia shortstops were selected. Ryan Wynn was selected in the seventh round with the 220th overall pick by the Seattle Mariners. Kolby Branch was selected by the Texas Rangers in the eighth round with the 237th overall pick.
Branch just wrapped up a summer playing for the USA Collegiate National Team. He played a big part in Team USA winning a silver medal in the 2026 World Collegiate Baseball Championship in Taichung City, Taiwan.
After Branch went off the board, the next Georgia position player to be selected was Tre Phelps. The third baseman was a top-150 MLB Pipeline draft prospect. However, it took longer than expected to see him selected. Phelps ended up being selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the ninth round with the 258th overall pick.
The final two position players from the Georgia Bulldogs to be selected were two-way player Kenny Ishikawa and catcher Brennan Hudson. Ishikawa was selected in the 13th round with the 392nd overall pick by the Cincinnati Reds. Hudson was selected in the 20th round with the 607th pick by the Chicago Cubs. He was among the final ten picks in the 2026 MLB Draft.
Bulldogs pitchers selected in the 2026 MLB Draft
Georgia had six pitchers selected in the 2026 MLB Draft as well. The first pitcher off the board from the Bulldogs was Joey Volchko. He was selected in the third round with the 77th overall pick by the Chicago White Sox.
Volchko ended his time with the Georgia Bulldogs on a high note. He had 15 strikeouts and allowed no earned runs in a complete-game performance against the Texas Longhorns in the 2026 College World Series. It was a major highlight in Georgia’s first trip to the College World Series since 2008.
Justin Byrd was the next Georgia pitcher off the board. He was selected in the sixth round with the 170th overall pick by the Los Angeles Angels. Byrd joins his Georgia teammate Lujo, who was also picked by the Angels.
Two Georgia Bulldogs arms were selected in the seventh round of the 2026 MLB Draft. Caden Aoki was selected by the Texas Rangers with the 207th overall pick. Shortly after, Dylan Vigue was picked by the Kansas City Royals with the 209th overall pick.
Both Aoki and Vigue made 25 starts for Georgia combined during the 2026 college baseball season.
In the eighth round, Matt Scott was drafted by the Cleveland Guardians with the 243rd overall pick.
The final Georgia pitcher selected in the 2026 MLB Draft was Caleb Jameson. The southpaw was drafted in the 12th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 356th overall pick.
