International Born Player Acquisitions In American Association

World Baseball Network has released a transaction list of three international-born players who will play in the 2024 American Association regular season. The American Association will have 100 games during the 2024 regular season starting on May 9.

 

Twenty-four-year-old left-handed pitcher Nicolo Pinazzi from Milan, Italy, will play for the Kansas City Monarchs for the 2024 regular season and signed with the organization on March 29. 

Pinazzi spent three seasons in the Cincinnati Reds organization from 2021-23 and only made it up to Low-A Daytona.

During his three seasons in the minors, Pinazzi has a lifetime record of 8-5 with a 5.53 ERA in 51 appearances and seven starts, recording one save, throwing 96 innings, allowing 78 hits, 59 earned runs, eight home runs, 83 walks, 154 strikeouts, and a 1.677 WHIP.

 

Twenty-seven-year-old Puerto Rican outfielder Roby Enriquez will play for the Winnipeg Goldeyes during the 2024 season and signed with the franchise on April 4.

Enriquez was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, and has played two seasons in the minor leagues from 2022-23 with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.

Enriquez played 32 games for the Indios de Mayagüez in the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente in Puerto Rico during the 2023-24 winter league season. He batted .243 with 119 plate appearances and smacked 25 hits, three doubles, one triple, one home run, 10 RBI, 11 walks, and 22 strikeouts.

Last season with Double-A Amarillo, Enriquez played in 48 games and hit .258 with 184 plate appearances, ripping 40 hits, 12 doubles, 16 RBI, five stolen bases, 24 walks, 32 strikeouts, and a .700 OPS before he was released on July 11, 2023.

In his two seasons in the minor leagues between High-A Hillsboro and Double-A Amarillo, Enriquez batted .290 playing in 136 games with 534 plate appearances, roping 135 hits, 27 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 65 RBI, 11 stolen bases, 47 walks, 86 strikeouts, and a .776 OPS.

 

The league announced on April 8 that Venezuelan catcher Claudio Finol has signed with the Kane County Cougars for the 2024 regular season. 

Finol, 23, was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and has played six seasons in the minor leagues with the Cincinnati Reds from 2017-19 and the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2021-23.

Last season, Finol played with High-A Greensboro and Double-A Altoona in 43 games. He batted .236 with 151 plate appearances, 30 hits, five doubles, three home runs, 12 RBI, four stolen bases, 16 walks, and 37 strikeouts before he elected free agency on November 6, 2023.

In his six seasons in the minors, Final has a lifetime average of .249, 993 plate appearances, 272 games played, 219 hits, 36 doubles, 11 triples, six home runs, 80 RBI, 14 stolen bases, 76 walks, 166 strikeouts, and a .652 OPS.
