As seasons wrap up, we are beginning to see players make their plans for this winter, joining winter league teams. The Cañeros de los Mochis, part of the Mexican Pacific Winter League, are welcoming back outfielder Justin Dean with what will be his second season with the club.

The 27-year-old was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 17th round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina. He is currently a member of the Atlanta Braves organization. Dean has played a majority of his season with Double-A Mississippi and only a few games with Triple-A Gwinnett. So far, through 104 games played this season, Dean carries a .241 average, hitting three home runs and driving in 37 RBIs.

This will be the outfielder’s second season with the Cañeros, where he played in 62 games during the 2023-24 season. In those 62 games, Dean only hit .216, with three home runs and 26 RBIs, but he did get on base, holding a .348 on-base percentage.

The season is set to kick off in about 40 days. We’ll see which other teams make more announcements regarding more player signings.
