LAMP Announces 2024-25 Season Awards Nominees

The Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico announced the nominees for five postseason awards for the 2024-25 season.

Six players were nominated for the league’s MVP,  five players were nominated for Pitcher of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Reliever of the Year award, and three managers were tabbed for Manager of the Year.

2024-25 LAMP MVP Nominees

Esteban Quiroz, IF, Tomateros de Culiacan – Quiroz batted .263/.422/.521 with a .921 OPS, 12 homers, and 38 RBIs in 61 games.

Robert Stock, P, Naranjeros de Hermosillo – Stock was spectacular in his return to the LAMP, throwing 84 1/3 innings over 14 starts, posting a 1.60 ERA with 78 strikeouts and 38 walks.

Michael Wielansky, IF, Charros de Jalisco – In his first year in the LAMP, Wielansky batted .329/.434/.502 with an .936 OPS, four homers and 26 RBIs for the Charros. He batted .318 and drove in three runs in 22 at-bats in the Caribbean Series.

Joey Meneses, IF/OF, Tomateros de Culiacan – Meneses, who’s outstanding winter earned him an invite to spring training with the New York Mets, batted .320/.386/.511 with an .896 OPS, 10 homers and led the league with 58 RBIs.

Yasmany Tomas, 1B/OF, Caneros de Los Mochis – In his third season in Los Mochis, the former Arizona Diamondback led the league with 13 homers and batted .222/.287/.459 with 41 RBIs.

Jasson Atondo, IF, Naranjeros de Hermosillo – Atondo won the LAMP batting title with a .355/.405/.447 mark this winter, getting 77 hits in 217 at-bats with 14 doubles and three triples.

2024-25 LAMP Manager of the Year Nominees

Benji Gil, Charros de Jalisco – Gil, also the manager of the Mexico national team, managed the Charros to the LAMP championship and reached the final of the 2025 Caribbean Series in Mexicali, falling 1-0 to LIDOM’s Leones del Escogido.

Juan Gabriel Castro, Naranjeros de Hermosillo – Castro managed the Naranjeros to the LAMP playoffs for the second consecutive year, where they fell to the Charros in the second round four games to two.

Felix Fermin, Caneros de Los Mochis – In his second year in Los Mochis, Fermin led the Caneros to a 37-31 record, good for fourth place overall, and took their first round playoff series four games to three against Guasave.

2024-25 LAMP Pitcher of the Year Nominees

Darel Torres, P, Caneros de Los Mochis – Torres threw 66 2/3 innings over 13 starts, posting a 2.43 ERA with a 10-2 record, striking out 62 and walking 47.

Robert Stock, P, Naranjeros de Hermosillo – Stock was spectacular in his return to the LAMP, throwing 84 1/3 innings over 14 starts, posting a 1.60 ERA with 78 strikeouts and 38 walks.

Manny Barreda, P, Tomateros de Culiacan – Barreda went 8-3 in 13 starts for the Tomateros, throwing 68 2/3 innings with a 3.01 ERA, 46 strikeouts, and 36 walks.

Omar Araujo, P, Caneros de Los Mochis – Araujo made a big impression in his first significant winter season, making 13 starts and pitching 62 2/3 innings with a 2.15 ERA.

David Reyes, P, Aguilas de Mexicali – Reyes was sensational for the Aguilas during the regular season, throwing 87 innings in 14 starts, striking out 71 and walking 14 with a 1.86 ERA. He was even better in the Caribbean Series, throwing 13 innings in two starts with a 0.69 ERA.

2024-25 LAMP Rookie of the Year Nominees

Luis Enrique Gastelum, P, Caneros de Los Mochis – Gastelum thre 24 2/3 innings in relief for the Caneros with a 1.82 ERA and earning a save.

Reivaj Garcia, IF, Naranjeros de Hermosillo – Garcia batted .313/.353/.443 with a .796 OPS, a homer and 19 RBIs for Hermosillo.

Damian Mendoza, P, Mayos de Navojoa – Mendoza, who pitched six seasons in the Texas Rangers organization, threw 54 2/3 innings with a 2.14 ERA and made nine starts for Navojoa, striking out 56 and walking 18.

Brayan Quintero, IF, Venados de Mazatlan – Quintero drove in 23 runs for the Venados and batted .270/.311/.327 in his first full season in the LAMP.

Omar Araujo, P, Caneros de Los Mochis – Araujo made a big impression in his first significant winter season, making 13 starts and pitching 62 2/3 innings with a 2.15 ERA.

2024-25 LAMP Reliever of the Year Nominees

Jake Sanchez, P, Aguilas de Mexicali – Sanchez threw 31 1/3 innings over 32 appearances for the Aguilas, earning 18 saves, striking out 36 and walking nine with a 1.44 ERA.

Sasagi Sanchez, P, Tomateros de Culiacan – Sanchez threw 31 2/3 innings over 32 appearances for Culiacan, striking out 21 and walking six with a 1.14 ERA.

Stephen Nogosek, P, Tomateros de Culiacan – Nogosek made 31 appearances, throwing 32 1/3 innings and earning 18 saves while striking out 36 and walking five. The former New York Met made four appearances at the Caribbean Series, allowing two hits, a walk, striking out three and posting a 0.00 ERA.

Charlie Hasty, P, Mayos de Navojoa – Hasty earned 16 saves in his first winter ball campaign, making 33 appearances for Navojoa and throwing 34 2/3 innings with a 2.08 ERA, striking out 23 and walking 18.

David Gutierrez, P, Tomateros de Culiacan – Gutierrez threw 30 innings for Culiacan with a 2.10 ERA, 31 strikeouts and nine walks. He threw four innings over three appearances at the Caribbean Series, walking one batter, striking out four, and posting a 0.00 ERA.
