Cuban starter Roenis Elias will be joining the Sultanes de Monterrey for the second half of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico season.
Elias played parts of seven seasons in Major League Baseball with the Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, and Washington Nationals, posting a career 3.96 ERA in 395 2/3 innings. His best season in MLB came with the Mariners in 2018, when he posted a 2.65 ERA in 51 innings with an ERA+ of 154 and a FIP of 3.08.
He’s previously pitched in the LVBP with the Cardenales de Lara and in LIDOM with the Aguilas Cibaenas, where he posted a 0.92 ERA in 39 innings during the 2022-23 season.
Naranjeros Add Patrick Wisdom – The Naranjeros de Hermosillo have signed utilityman Patrick Wisdom, who appeared in 455 MLB games with the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and Texas Rangers. Wisdom appeared in 75 games for the Cubs in 2024, batting .171/.237/.392 with eight homers and 23 RBIs. This will be his first appearance in winter ball.
Mayos de Navojoa 12, Caneros de Los Mochis 0 – Missael Rivera drove in five runs with a two-run homer in the third and a three-run homer in the sixth as the Mayos stomped Los Mochis on Friday night. Los Mochis managed just five hits and four walks and went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Charros de Jalisco 8, Tomateros de Culiacan 4 – Culiacan got three homers in the sixth, including the ninth of the year from league leader Joey Meneses, but it wasn’t enough. Billy Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and a pair of RBIs for the Charros, who improved to 5-2 in the second half.
Venados de Mazatlan 8, Yaquis de Obregon 4 – Mazatlan got out to a 5-0 lead and held on through a four-run fifth inning by the Yaquis. Brayan Quintero drove in a pair of runs in the second for Mazatlan, which got its second win of the second half.
Naranjeros de Hermosillo 3, Aguilas de Mexicali 2 (10 Innings) – Jasson Atondo’s RBI double in the bottom of the 10th tied the game for Hermosillo, and Jose Cardona’s single sent Atondo home with the winning run. The Naranjeros improved to 5-2 in the second half, while the Aguilas are 4-3.
