Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Bravos de Leon’s Gabriel Cancel, Diablos Rojos’ Jon Singleton Hit 17th Homers of the Year

Guerreros de Oaxaca (26-21) 11, Charros de Jalisco (28-19) 5 (Game 1/Seven Innings) – Mel Rojas Jr. hit a three-run homer int. first, Jose Carlos Urena hit a grand slam in the seventh, and Aristides Aquino added a solo homer in the fourth as the Guerreros romped to victory in the first game of the doubleheader in Zapopan. Jared Walsh had a solo homer for Jalisco in the loss.

Guerreros de Oaxaca (27-21) 14, Charros de Jalisco (28-20) 8 (Game 2/Seven Innings) – The Guerreros scored 14 runs in the second game, collecting 15 hits, but only three of them went for extra bases and none were homers. Alexi Amarista scored three times, Mel Rojas Jr. walked three times, and Juan Santana drove in three runs for Oaxaca. Mateo Gil had a double, a triple, and three RBIs for Jalisco, and teammate Kyle Garlick had a two-run homer and three RBIs for the Charros.

Saraperos de Saltillo (15-29) 9, Pericos de Puebla (25-22) 5 – The Saraperos scored three runs in the second and five in the third to win for just the third time in the last 10 games, getting a pair of homers and four RBIs from Danny Ortiz, who drove in four runs, and long balls from Orlando Pina and Dairon Blanco.

Conspiradores de Queretaro (21-26) 3, Algodoneros at Union Laguna (21-26) 1 – Fifth-inning doubles from Keven Lamas and Yangervis Solarte scored a pair of runs for Queretaro, and Henry Urrutia hit a solo homer for the Conspiradores in the sixth to give them a 3-1. Mason Martin’s eight-inning solo homer, his 11th homer of the year, scored Union Laguna’s only run. Starter Junior Guerra threw seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, striking out seven and walking none for Queretaro.

Toros de Tijuana (32-14) 9, El Aguila de Veracruz (21-25) 5 – Chris Williams hit a pair of solo homers, Wilmer Flores hit a solo homer, and Junior Lake went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs as the Toros won to maintain a four-game lead over Jalisco atop the Zona Norte. Adonis Medina allowed two runs on six hits and two walks over six innings, striking out six for the Toros. Daniel Montano hit a three-run homer for Veracruz.

Leones de Yucatan (16-30) 5, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (22-25) 4 – The Leones won their second game in a row, getting a solo homer from Juan Uriarte and a sacrifice fly from Deivy Grullon in the bottom of the ninth to score Jose Gaitan with the winning run. Angel Reyes drove in three runs in the loss for Aguascaliente.

Bravos de Leon (27-20) 10, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (21-26) 3 – Starter Felipe Gonzalez allowed five hits and a walk over five scoreless innings, fanning three, and the Bravos got five homers from five different batters as they easily got past the Tecos. Gabriel Cancel hit his 17th homer of the year, a three-run shot in the fourth, and Jimmy Kerrigan, Esteban Quiroz, Sandber Pimentel, and Adolis Garcia all homered for the Bravos.

Tigres de Quintana Roo (20-25) 13, Sultanes de Monterrey (26-21) 7 – Manuel Boscan hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs, catcher Alexis Wilson hit a solo homer and drove in three runs, and Troy Viola drove in a pair of runs with a seventh-inning double to get the Tigres past the Sultanes. Gustavo Nunez went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Monterrey.

Olmecas de Tabasco (29-18) 5, Caliente de Durango (21-25) 4 – Tabasco scored all five runs before the seventh inning then survived a two-run rally in the seventh to remain tied with the Diablos Rojos atop the Zona Sur. Yunior Severino hit a three-run homer for Tabasco in the third. Reynaldo Rodriguez drove in a pair of runs without recording a hit in the game for Tabasco.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (29-18) 7, Acereros de Monclova (26-21) 3 – Jon Singleton hit a two-run homer, his 17th of the year, to remain tied atop the list with Leon’s Gabriel Cancel, Franklin Baretto added a two-run shot, and the Diablos kept pace with Tabasco atop the Zona Sur. Monclova got a two-out, two-run double from Balbino Fuenmayor in the bottom of the ninth.

Piratas de Campeche (19-25) 7, Dorados de Chihuahua (18-29) – Cal Mitchell went 4-for-5 for Campeche, hitting three doubles and driving in four runs to get the Piratas past Chihuahua. Brainer Bonaci had a pair of doubles and two RBIs for Chihuahua.

All-Star Balloting Underway – Fans can vote for who they want to see play in the 2026 LMB Juego de Estrellas, which will pit the Mexican All-Stars against the LMB All-Stars, a club composed of players from outside Mexico.

Lorenzo Bundy, the manager who led the Diablos Rojos del México to back-to-back championships in 2024 and 2025, will manage the LMB All-Star team and Benji Gil of the Charros de Jalisco, will lead the coaching staff of the Mexican All-Stars.

The roster for the LMB Banorte All-Stars will be announced on Sunday, June 14. Fans can vote on the league website by clicking here.
