Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Charros de Jalisco Top First-Place Tijuana 6-4; Queretaro, Yucatan Split DH

Leones de Yucatan (15-25) 1, Conspiradores de Queretaro (16-25) 0 (Game 1/Seven Innings) – Norberto Obeso’s solo homer was the game’s only run, and Yucatan’s Brandon Brennan threw five innings, allowing one hit, two walks, and striking out three. Queretaro’s Luis Romero threw six innings, allowing Obeso’s homer and four other hits, walking three and striking out three.

Conspiradores de Queretaro (17-25) 11, Leones de Yucatan (14-26) 5 (Game 2/Seven Innings) – Yurisbel Gracial went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer, Yangervis Solarte added a three-run homer, and the Conspiradores routed the Leones to take the second game of Wednesday’s double header. Five Queretaro relievers combined to shut out Yucatan over the final 5 1/3 innings.

Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (19-22) 6, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (21-20) 0 – Tecos starter Daniel Mengden allowed just three hits over 6 1/3 shutout innings, walking two and striking out nine, and Francisco Arcia’s two-run homer in the second inning provided all the offense Dos Laredos would need. Harold Ramirez went 4-for-5 for the Tecos, scoring once and driving in a run.

Tigres de Quintana Roo (17-22) 5, Guerreros de Oaxaca (24-17) 1 – Kennys Vargas hit a two-run homer in the second, Calvin Estrada added insurance with a sac fly in the third and a solo homer in the sixth, and the Tigres took the series win Wednesday night. Cristopher Gastelum had two hits, scored a run, and recorded and RBI in the win.

Bravos de Leon (24-17) 8, Diablos Rojos del Mexico (25-16) 4 – Esteban Quiroz went 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBIs, and Gabriel Cancel hit his league-leading 15th homer of the season, a two-run shot in the first, as the Bravos evened the series with the Diablos. Connor Panas had a two-run double in the eighth for Leon.

El Aguila de Veracruz (18-23) 10, Piratas de Campeche (15-24) 5 – Jake Cave went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning as Veracruz doubled up Campeche. Andres Alvarez and Jose Heberto Felix each hit solo homers for El Aguila.

Dorados de Chihuahua (14-27) 3, Caliente de Durango (21-19) 2 – Justin Connell’s two-run double in the seventh got the Dorados past Durango, and Andre Lipcius drove in Chihuahua’s first run with a single in the fourth. Webster Rivas ha an RBI double for Durango.

Pericos de Puebla (22-18) at Olmecas de Tabasco (25-15) – Postponed due to rain and rescheduled as part of a single-admission doubleheader on June 4.

Sultanes de Monterrey (25-16) 6, Saraperos de Saltillo (13-26) 1 – Wilson Garcia and Josh Lester each hit solo homers, and Jose Cardona went 3-for-3 with three RBIs as the Sultanes got past Saltillo. Four Sultanes had multi-hit games, and starter Manny Banuelos allowed three runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out five.

Algodoneros de Union Laguna (17-25) 9, Acereros de Monclova (22-20) 7 – Julian Escobedo and Albert Lara each homered and drove in three runs apiece for the Algodoneros, and Isan Diaz hit a solo homer and scored three times for Union Laguna. Jecksson Flores hit his first homer of the year and Rodolfo Amador doubled twice in the loss for Monclova.

Charros de Jalisco (25-16) 6, Toros de Tijuana (27-13) 4 – Willie Calhoun went 2-for-5, scoring twice and driving in three runs with one swing of the bat, hitting a three-run homer in the fifth for Jalisco. Johneshwy Fargas had a two-run homer for the Charros, and the bullpen threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings to secure the win over first-place Tijuana. Franchy Cordero hit a solo homer in the second for the Toros.
