Pericos de Puebla (27-22) 4, Toros de Tijuana (33-15) 0 (Game 1/Seven Innings) – Vladimir Gutierrez allowed three hits and struck out four over seven shutout innings for Puebla, and Samar Leyva’s RBI single in the bottom of the third was enough as the Pericos won the first game of the doubleheader. Luis Castro hit a solo homer and Moises Gomez had a two-run double to add insurance for the Pericos.
Toros de Tijuana (34-15) 13, Pericos de Puebla (27-23) 2 (Game 2/Seven Innings) – The Toros scored 13 runs but hit no homers, getting four in the second and fourth innings, three in the fifth, and two in the sixth to take Game 2 of the doubleheader. Edson Garcia entered the game as a pinch hitter in the fifth and went 2-for-2 with three RBIs for Tijuana.
Diablos Rojos del Mexico (31-18) 7, Charros de Jalisco (28-21) 4 (Game 1/Nine Innings) – The Diablos rallied for six runs in the top of the ninth to erase a 4-1 deficit, getting RBI singles from Franklin Barreto, Robinson Cano, and Julian Ornelas, a bases-loaded walk from Rio Ruiz, and an RBI groundout from Jon Singleton to take the completion of Friday’s suspended game.
Diablos Rojos del Mexico (32-18) 8, Charros de Jalisco (28-22) 2 (Game 2/Seven Innings) – Julian Ornelas hit a pair of homers and drove in five runs for the Diablos, clubbing a two-run homer in the fourth and a three-run homer in the fifth. Carlos Perez and Jose Marmolejos each hit solo homers for the Diablos, who improved to 14 games over .500 with the win.
Piratas de Campeche (20-27) 15, Sultanes de Monterrey (27-22) 4 – Six different Piratas each had a pair of RBIs as Campeche plundered Monterrey on Saturday. Fernando Perez hit a two-run homer for the Piratas, while Ismael Alcantara hit a three-run homer in the second for fourth-place Monterrey, which is now seven games back of first place Tijuana.
Bravos de Leon (30-20) 9, Algodoneros at Union Laguna (21-29) 4 – Esteban Quiroz went 3-for-3, scored twice, and had a double, a solo homer, and three RBIs for the Bravos, who won their 30th game of the season. Gabriel Cancel and Carlos Martinez each drove in two runs for Leon. Isan Diaz, Julian Escobedo, and Edward Olivares each hit solo homers for Union Laguna.
Guerreros de Oaxaca (28-22) 6, Dorados de Chihuahua (20-30) 2 – Alexi Amarista went 4-for-5 with a run scored, and veteran starter Radhames Liz went five innings, allowing one run on six hits, walking one and striking out eight for Oaxaca. Coco Montes hit a solo homer in the first for the Dorados.
Saraperos de Saltillo (17-30) 5, El Aguila de Veracruz (21-28) 2 – Former New York Met Luis Guillorme hit a solo homer and added an RBI single as the Saraperos won their second straight game against Veracruz. Carlos Williams had a solo homer for El Aguila in the loss.
Conspiradores de Queretaro (24-26) 9, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (21-29) 7 – Arturo Rodriguez hit a two-run homer, Kelvin Gutierrez hit a two run single, and the Conspiradores held on despite a two-run ninth inning rally by the Tecos to get back to two games under .500.
Olmecas de Tabasco (31-19) 8, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (22-27) 5 – A seven-run fourth inning featuring homers by Randy Romero, Agustin Ruiz, and Yamaico Navarro got the Olmecas their 31st win of the year to remain one game back of the Zona Sur-leading Diablos Rojos. Seth Beer had an RBI double and Yunior Severino had an RBI single in the big inning for Tabasco.
Caliente de Durango (24-25) 7, Leones de Yucatan (17-32) 4 – Webster Rivas drove in a pair of runs with a fourth-inning double for Durango, and Victor Marquez drove in a pair, one with a single and one with a sac fly, as the Caliente won their third straight.
Acereros de Monclova (28-22) 6, Tigres de Quintana Roo (21-28) 5 (10 Innings) – Luis Gonzalez drove in Aldo Nunez with a single in the bottom of the 10th to give Monclova its 28th win of the year. Gonzalez went 4-f0r-4 with a double and four RBIs in the game.
Home Run Derby Participants Announced – Josh Lester of the Sultanes de Monterrey, Justin Turner of the Toros de Tijuana, Alejandro Mejia of the Caliente de Durango, and Zoilo Almonte of the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos will represent the Zona Norte at the LMB’s Home Run Derby during the All-Star Game festivities in Monterrey on June 27. Juan Santana of the Guerreros de Oaxaca, Jon Singleton of the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, and Gabriel Cancel and Moises Gomez of the Bravos de Leon will represent the Zona Sur.
