Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Olmecas de Tabasco Snap Losing Streak; Saraperos de Saltillo’s Skid Continues

Leones de Yucatan (7-4) 7, Tigres de Quintana Roo (5-6) 1 – Henry Ramos went 3-for-3 and scored three times, and starter Yoanner Negrin threw six innings, allowing one run on two hits and two walks, striking out five as the Leones secured a series win against Quintana Roo and won their fourth straight. Diosbel Arias hit a solo homer for the Tigres.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (6-4) 10, Piratas de Campeche (4-6) 1 – The Diablos scored three in the top of the first on a homer by Julian Ornelas and kept adding on to top the Piratas in the series opener. Ornelas had an unbelievable night, going 4-for-5, scoring three times, homering twice, and driving in eight runs, four coming on a ninth-inning grand slam. Felipe Perez scored the Piratas lone run with a solo homer off James Kaprelian in the second.

Guerreros de Oaxaca (8-2) 10, Pericos de Puebla (3-7) 7 – A three-run homer by Aristedes Aquino in the ninth gave the Guerreros enough to get by the Pericos and win their third straight. Puebla’s David Rodriguez tied the game at four with a grand slam in the bottom of the first.

Charros de Jalisco (6-4) 11, Dorados de Chihuahua (4-6) 9 – Willie Calhoun, Kyle Garlick, and Johneshwy Fargas each hit two doubles and Mateo Gil went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, hitting a three-run homer in the fourth to key a six-run inning for Jalisco. Jonathan Schoop hit a three-run homer and Carlos Munoz hit a solo shot for Durango.

Caliente de Durango (5-5) 7, Toros de Tijuana (6-3) 4 – A three-run single by Andre Lipcius in the sixth keyed a four-run inning that put Durango ahead for good as they climbed back to .500. Lipcius went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for Durango, and the Caliente bullpen was hot, allowing just four hits and a walk over the final 6 1/3 innings.

Algodoneros de Union Laguna (4-6) 11, Saraperos de Saltillo (1-8) 8 – Emmanuel Rivera went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, and Mason Martin went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs as the Algodoneros sent the Saraperos to their sixth straight loss. Chris Carter hit his first homer of the year, a second-inning solo shot, but Saltillo lost the lead in the fourth and never got it back.

Acereros de Monclova (5-5) 11, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (5-5) 9 – Ramon Hernandez went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, and Luis Gonzalez and Alan Trejo drove in a pair of runs each as the Acereros got back to .500. The Rieleros rallied in the bottom of the ninth, getting a two-out three-run homer from Leonel Valera, but they couldn’t complete the comeback.

Sultanes de Monterrey (8-2) 11, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (5-5) 0 – The Sultanes jumped out to a 10-0 lead after just three innings and their lead was never threatened. Stephen Tarpley threw six scoreless innings, allowing two hits, a walk, and striking out five, Ramiro Pena and Wilson Garcia drove in three runs apiece, and Omar Narvaez and Josh Lester homered for Monterrey.

Bravos de Leon (8-2) 8, El Aguila de Veracruz (5-4) 7 – In the bottom of the ninth, Ricky Karcher’s 1-1 offering to Connor Panas went to the backstop, allowing Gilberto Carrera to score the winning run for the Bravos, who improved to 8-2 and remain tied for first in the Zona Sur. Gabriel Cancel had his league-leading eighth double for the Bravos.

Olmecas de Tabasco (2-8) 11, Conspiradores de Queretaro (3-7) 6 – With the game tied at six apiece, the Olmecas got five runs in the bottom of the seventh, with Jose Godoy hitting a grand slam to help snap Tabasco’s five-game losing streak. Yangervis Solarte hit a two-run homer for Queretaro, which incurred its fourth consecutive loss.
