Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Toros de Tijuana Win 50th of Season; Diablos, Piratas Riding Win Streaks

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (48-25) 3, Tigres de Quintana Roo (37-34) 1 – Jon Singleton hit his 22nd homer of the year, and the Diablot Rojos got a pair of runs in the eighth to take the first game of the series from their long-time rivals and win their eighth straight game. Starter Humberto Castellanos allowed one run on five hits and a walk over 5 2/3 innings, striking out seven. Tigres starter Darius Vines threw six innings, allowing just two hits, including the solo homer to Singleton, walking one and striking out three.

Piratas de Campeche (36-33) 6, Olmecas de Tabasco (43-30) 4 – Fernando Flores went 3-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs, driving in two with a single in the second and another with a single in the fourth. Bobby Milacki threw 5 1/3 for Campeche, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk, striking out four, and the Piratas won their sixth straight game.

Guerreros de Oaxaca (37-36) 9, Leones de Yucatan (27-44) 5 – Despite giving up nine hits, Luis Miranda gave Oaxaca a quality start, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing just three runs while striking out three and walking none. Juniel Querecuto went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for Oaxaca, driving in two in the fourth and two in the fifth with a pair of doubles. Juan Uriarte hit a three-run homer for Yucatan.

Pericos de Puebla (38-33) 9, El Aguila de Veracruz (34-38) 6 – Sergio Alcanatara hit a three-run homer in the seventh, and RBI singles from Lorenzo Cedrola, Alcantara, and Cristhian Adames contributed to a four-run eighth inning as the Pericos maintained sole possession of third place in the Zona Sur, one game ahead of Campeche and Quintana Roo and 10 games back of the division-leading Diablos.

Conspiradores de Queretaro (31-41) 16, Bravos de Leon (37-36) 9 – The Bravos lost their third straight and seventh in their last 10, coughing up an 8-6 lead by allowing Queretaro to score 10 runs in the seventh, eight of them coming with two outs. Inexplicably, the Bravos walked Henry Urrutia intentionally with the bases loaded and two outs, pushing the go-ahead run across in the big inning.Hendrik Clementina drove in four runs for Queretaro, homering twice, and Yangervis Solarte hit his 20th homer of the year for the Conspiradores.

Sultanes de Monterrey (38-34) 9, Acereros de Monclova (38-35) 3 – Victor Mendoza drove in three runs for the Sultanes, and Maikel Franco hit a two-run homer to get Monterrey a 1/2-game lead on Monclova for third place in the Zona Norte. Daniel Mengden allowed just one earned run on seven hits, striking out five in his second appearance with Monterrey since being loaned from Dos Laredos.

Saraperos de Saltillo (29-42) 6, Dorados de Chihuahua (27-46) 1 – Fineas Del Bonta-Smith allowed one run on three hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking none for Saltillo, and Christian Villanueva and Oscar Colas each homered for the Saraperos.

Caliente de Durango (39-33) 9, Algodoneros de Union Laguna (33-40) 1 – Durango got RBI singles in the second from Drew Stankiewicz and Reynaldo Rodriguez and never looked back, maintaining a one-game lead on Monterrey for second place in the Zona Norte. Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with five RBIs.

Rieleros de Aguascalientes (33-36) 13, Charros de Jalisco (37-35) 4 – Angel Reyes went 4-for-4, homering twice and driving in two runs, and the Rieleros also got long balls from Matthew Batten, Amilcar Gomez, and Matt McDermott as they opened up a two-game lead on Union Laguna for the final playoff spot in the Zona Norte.

Toros de Tijuana (50-21) 4, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (27-47) 0 – Adonis Medina allowed two hits over six scoreless innings for Tijuana, allowing two walks and striking out five as the Toros won for the 50th time this season. Hernan Perez, Jonathan Guzman, and Wilmer Flores each had RBIs for the Toros.
